Outdoor Living… Finally!

Outdoor Living… Finally!

Hi guys!

Long time no chat!  Did you miss me?  I know I’ve been pretty hit and miss lately on the whole blogging front. It’s something that has just taken a back burner in my life.  BUT, I do miss you all and plan to try to continue on after baby is born.  I know many of you have been following my journey before and during this pregnancy so I don’t want to just leave you hanging 🙂

Speaking of baby, he’s still dancing away in my belly!  I’m over 37 weeks and patiently awaiting his arrival.  Okay so maybe I’m not as patient as I should be… Can you blame me though?  We’ve waited over 3 years to meet add to our family.  So to say we are excited for his arrival would be an understatement.  Even The Love Nugget can’t wait to meet his little brother.   Which we’re hoping will be soon!  I had a doctors appointment last Friday and she said he’s dropping, my pelvic bone is splitting and my body is beginning preparation for delivery!  I have an ultrasound this Friday so we’ll know a little more then.  I definitely feel more ready to deliver this time than with my first.   Much more relaxed and excited about labor than frightened and anxious like the previous time.  So I’m hoping my relaxed outlook about the whole thing will help my body go into labor earlier than with The Love Nugget.  Who was two weeks late…  I’m also doing a few things that have been known to help induce labor which I’ll share with you later this week.

On another note, we’ve finally finished our backyard!

Friday Favorites + a Paleo Summer Recipe!

Friday Favorites + a Paleo Summer Recipe!

Happy Friday!

I’m sure we’re all excited for the weekend.  I know I am.  Although we don’t have much planned I’m just looking forward to relaxing with the fam 🙂  Hopefully indoors where it’s nice and cool since we’ll be up in the 100’s again!  How many days until fall?

We actually had a pretty mellow week which was nice for a change.  Since I’m not teaching 6:00am at the Studio anymore I was able to get a few more days of sleeping in past 5:00 am.  I also had some more time at home in the mornings which allowed me to get some cleaning and organizing done.  Always feels good!

Today I’m sharing a few favorites per usual on a Friday and joining Heather to do so.  I think it’s fun to see what other people are enjoying lately.  So I always make sure to spend some time checking out the posts from fellow bloggers who also link up for the party.  Make sure you keep reading this post in particular as I’m sharing a SUPER yummy, easy to make and in season fruit crisp.

A Fun Theme Dinner with Blue Diamond Almonds!

Happy Monday friends!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  It seems a little crazy that this is the last week of July!  With one month left of Summer (actually just a few weeks until The Love Nugget starts back at school) we are filling our weekends with lots of fun activities.  We have a mini vacation coming up to Monterey, are looking into a camping trip, and of course lots of time with friends!  This past weekend was one where we got to enjoy some fun summer adventures starting with a super fun, and delicious dinner at our good friends house.

Summer Reading with Disney Story Central!

Summer Reading with Disney Story Central!

Summer’s here get hot and even though we are barely into June we’re already experiencing temperatures over 100 degrees!  It’s pretty miserable especially when we’re also in a drought and can’t head outdoors to play in water to cool off.  So with an active four year old I’m having to find fun things to do indoors to keep him entertained.  I try to keep him busy with painting, playing with playdough, building indoor forts, reading books, dancing to music etc.  Like a normal 4 year old these days though he really enjoys watching T.V. or playing on an iPad.  Since we limit his technology time we try to make sure we don’t over do it with this.  When he does get technology time, we try to make sure that it’s learning centered.

Lately we’ve been enjoying allowing him to read interactive books on Disney Story Central.

Summer Entertaining with Blue Diamond!

Summer Entertaining with Blue Diamond!

Fun.

Barbecues.

Friends.

Entertaining.

Excursions.

Four words that pop into my head when I think of Summer and that we pleasantly enjoyed this past weekend.  We invited a few friends over for dinner Friday night and surprisingly pretty much everyone made it!  Summer is always so hard to find dates where people are free as it tends to be everyone’s busy time of year.  So we were pretty happy when we had a house full of friends over for a yummy abalone dinner cooked by my amazing hubby 🙂

Brain Dead for a Fun Reason

Do you ever have those days where you just feel brain dead?  You know where you put the milk in the cupboard or forget why you walked into a room…  Yeah, I’ve been having that type of week and it’s only Tuesday!  At least when it comes to blogging.  Every time I sit down to write a post nothing happens.  It’s not that I don’t have ideas on what to write about.  I actually think about lots of great topics all the time but when I finally have the time to sit and blog those ideas are lost…  I could attribute it to mommy brain, lack of sleep (been up since 3:30 since someone thought they needed to get up and play) or that we’re busy working on the house but I think the main culprit is that all I want to do is plan our trip to… Disneyland!

Five Word Friday – Sick, Zoo, Peaches, Cookies, Winner!

Five Word Friday – Sick, Zoo, Peaches, Cookies, Winner!

Good morning and happy Friday to you all!

Since I’ve been cutting back on my fitness and experiencing a little anxiety with my decrease in exercise, I thought instead of focusing on fitness like I normally do on Friday’s, I’d do something different.  I will say that I am continuing to incorporate more active rest days along with my regular spin and circuit workouts.  If you missed why I’ve decided to cut back you can read about it here but otherwise I’m moving on for today 🙂

Keeping a toddler entertained on hot summer days

Keeping a toddler entertained on hot summer days

There were quite a few days this summer where the temperatures were well over 100 degrees.  Which mean even with a large shaded patio, we couldn’t spend too much time outside.  It’s crazy how fast The Love Nugget’s little body heats up and besides the fact that he could easily over heat, I’m not a fan of being sweaty and puffy within minutes of exiting the house.  So needless to say we spent several days inside which with an active toddler, can be a bit challenging.
