Keep Bugs Away Naturally with

Keep Bugs Away Naturally with

I’ve always joked that I have this naturally sweet blood that mosquitos and other bugs just love.  That’s because I literally get attacked by bugs when I’m outdoors.  Especially this time of year.  When the weather is warming up and there’s standing water which is breeding ground for pesky mosquitos.

Unfortunately my son got my same sweet blood because he typically gets eaten alive as well.  Not only is this a very annoying issue to have because of the actual bites, but it’s frustrating since the only way to keep them at bay is with bug sprays that have dangerous chemicals.  At least before that was an issue, but we’ve recently discovered a new, natural way to keep the bugs off.

Mini Paleo Corn Dogs

Mini Paleo Corn Dogs

I’ll be honest.  I’m not a huge hot dog fan.  I think I get weirded out by the mish mash of ingredients.  I hadn’t purchased them in years until now that The Love Nugget’s a fan.   Plus they are just easy when you have kids, are busy and need a quick lunch.

I try to keep it clean by purchasing Applegate Farms Organic Uncured Hot Dogs.  The other day I was browsing Whole Foods and stumbled across Applegate Farms Organic Little Smoky dogs!  Every thing tastes better as a mini right!?!  My mind got to thinking about how The Love Nugget and Hubby love corn dogs but we never have them because well… corn.  So I picked up a package and came home to get creating in the kitchen.

Natural Body Care with Dragonfly Traditions

Natural Body Care with Dragonfly Traditions

This past year I’ve been focusing a lot on ridding toxins from our home.  We’ve been eating very clean and toxin free for a few years now but it’s amazing how many toxins can be transferred into your body through other products.  Hair care, cosmetics, lotions, cleaning products, air fresheners, etc.   Simple things you often think are harmful could be causing more damage than you know.

So little by little I’ve been eliminating ways we could be transferring toxins into our body.  The other day I published a post with a few of my favorite natural cleaning products and I’ll do another soon with a more in-depth look at the natural cleaning products I  use.  Today I wanted to focus on a skin care line I’ve been loving and is 100% natural, toxin, parabens, chemicals, dyes, fragrances, preservatives or fillers.

Organic Hawaiian Adventures at Kuaiwi Farm

Organic Hawaiian Adventures at Kuaiwi Farm

Of course I’m not finished with our Hawaiian adventures!  There was just too much to cover in one post and I wanted to make sure to give my most favorite adventure the spotlight that it deserved 🙂

When searching for things to do in Kona, I came across an old style organic farm outside of Kona called, Kuaiwi Farm.  It looked like something that was right up my alley so I immediately emailed the owner to see if we could schedule a tour.  Una, the owner promptly got back to me and set us up for a morning on the farm!

Kuaiwi Farm sits just outside of Kona in the town of Captain Cook.  It’s a five acre mountain side farm that grows a variety of different organic fruits, vegetables, macadamia nuts and coffee!

Marvelous Paleo Friendly Crackers!

Marvelous Paleo Friendly Crackers!

Okay so this weekend ended up being way busier than I had expected it to be.

Saturday was spent packing up my Grandparents house which wasn’t actually that bad.  We were done around 1:30 but then went to lunch with my brother,

Paleo Friendly Finds at Costco

Paleo Friendly Finds at Costco

Yesterday I was supposed to go meet my mom to pick up The Love Nugget.  However, he decided he really wanted to stay another day to play with his cousins and since he doesn’t get to see them that often I agreed.  I miss him but am so glad that he is having a fun time with his Grammie and cousins!

So I had a whole day to myself!   What to do what to do…

It’s funny I have TONS on my to-do list and lots of stuff I wanted to do but… I didn’t get it all done.  Mainly because my back was killing me.  Ugh, will it ever get better!?!  I did get a chance to make a few phone calls one of which was to a massage therapist (apt. Friday) and one to the Bowen Method.  Have you heard of it?  The Hubby went awhile back when he injured his back and said it helped a lot so I”m going to give it a try.  Fingers crossed it helps!

Other than resting I did manage to make it to the grocery store, get some food prep done, cleaned the house and organized both my and The Love Nugget’s dressers.  So that was good.

Grocery shopping meant a stop at Costco where I was yet again impressed with their Paleo friendly options.

Paleo MeeNut Butter

You guys know about my love for nut butters.  I think right now we’ve six different jars in our cupboard or fridge and they are probably all half empty.  No only do I love them, but both The Hubby and Love Nugget do as well.  So when I got a jar of MeeNut Butter in the mail to try out, we all couldn’t wait to dig in.

Vintage Traditions Skin Care

Vintage Traditions Skin Care

Good morning!

First off, thank you for all the kind comments on yesterdays post.  It’s nice to hear I’m not the only mom that feels guilty at time and needs a little reminder to slow down 🙂  We took some time off packing yesterday to enjoy some cuddles, reading, and playing most the morning.  Then after running some errands enjoyed a lunch date and an afternoon working at the new house.  Even though we were busy working most the afternoon, The Love Nugget was so much happier and content with playing by himself.  Most likely because I had dedicated a good amount of time earlier in the day to him.  A way better day all around!

Unfortunately, I woke up with the cold that both he and The Hubby had been fighting off 🙁  Of course it hits me on moving weekend with so much left to do at the new house.  On the plus side, at least I got it now and not next weekend for The Hubby’s Christmas Party!

Anyway, today I wanted to talk a little bit about skin care.  For someone who cares so much about what I put into my body, I haven’t always been as careful about watching what I put on my body. From deodorant to face lotion I bought what I thought was good for my skin or what I liked at the time not worrying about reading labels.  However, recently I began learning about the harsh chemicals in certain skin care I used and began to pay more attention to my external body products.

Toddler Tuesday – Citrus Lane

Toddler Tuesday – Citrus Lane

Good morning and welcome to Toddler Tuesday!

As a busy mom, it can be hard to find and decide on which products I should buy for The Love Nugget.  Especially as he gets older and I have less time to spend in the store reading the back of labels before deciding on a certain shampoo, fruit snack etc.  Or deciding which toy is non toxic and age appropriate.  So when I heard about Citrus Lane I thought, Genius!
