Happy Wednesday!

Hope you’re all having a great week so far!

Life with a newborn has been an adjustment from the way life used to be.  On most days before Little Squish, I was able to make us a full breakfast, pack snacks to go do whatever we needed to do, come home to make a full lunch, and then cook a full dinner most nights.

Now most my time is spent holding the baby, nursing the baby, and changing the baby.  What time I’m not spending on those things, I’m trying to spend on The Love Nugget.  Which leaves me with very little time to cook meals like I used to.  So now more than ever meal prep is so essential for me.  I’ve been making sure to spend a little time over the weekends to prep some food for the week.  It helps SO much when I have something I can quickly grab and eat immediately or re-heat and eat.

Keep your Fitness Fresh with Cottonelle

Keep your Fitness Fresh with Cottonelle

I’m now almost 34 weeks pregnant and nearing the end.  If you’ve been pregnant before you know that with the third trimester comes some unpleasant side effects.   Fatigue, heartburn, the return of nausea, back pain, stretch marks, varicose veins and the constant urge to pee are just a few.  Some of which I’ve experienced and luckily, some of which I have not.  One that has hit me hard though and has made for some annoying situations has been the constant urge to urinate along with the occasional leaky bladder.

If You’re Eating Tuna, You Should be Eating Safe Catch!

If You’re Eating Tuna, You Should be Eating Safe Catch!

I used to dislike tuna.  Not fresh tuna but canned tuna.  Mainly because I had heard such horrible things about the fish they use and the way they catch the fish.  Many big brands use longline fishery which is the use of a long fishing line with multiple hooks that can stretch for many miles. Thousands of tons of seabirds, sea turtles, sharks and other marine life are hooked and then left to die on the lines.

So I just avoided it.  Then I discovered that there were companies that were committed to sustainable fishing practices and distributing a product that is safe to eat.  Even still I worried about mercury.  What most people these days worry about when they think about tuna.  Especially those of us with kiddos.  Mercury is highly toxic and kids are most susceptible to the harmful effects.

Luckily there is a brand that is creating a product that is not only sustainable but is produced with tuna that has been individually tested for mercury.  Yes you read that right, EACH fish is tested for their mercury level.

What’s in my Fridge

What’s in my Fridge

I subscribe to Paleo Magazine and one of my favorite articles is always the “What’s in my Fridge” page.  It’s usually short and just one picture but I love seeing what’s in other peoples fridges.  Especially when they eat similar to me!

So even though I know everyone out there doesn’t eat the same as I do, I thought it would be fun to share what’s in our fridge on an average basis.  The only thing is that I took these pictures and planned to do this post over a month ago so you’ll see some summer fruits and veggies that we no longer have in rotation because they are out of season.  But for the most part we keep many of the same foods stocked for weekly meals 🙂

Alpine Ranch Grass-Fed Beef

Alpine Ranch Grass-Fed Beef

As most of you know, up until just a few months ago I didn’t eat beef.  Actually, I hadn’t eaten it since my first year in college when I learned about feed lots and processing plants.  Growing up we ate more venison and wild game as my dad was an avid hunter.  Even when we did have it, beef was never really my cup of tea.  So it wasn’t anything I ever missed or desired to eat.  That was until I became Paleo and noticed that my body was craving more protein.  More than I was getting from chicken, fish or turkey.  This was also during the time I was experiencing amenorrhea and was willing to try different things to get my cycle back.

Vega Electrolyte Hydrator

It’s already starting to get hot around here.  Like sweat dripping off your legs as you walk down the street hot.  We’ve seriously already seen temps near 100 degrees and it’s not even June!
