Last Christmas as a family of Three

Last Christmas as a family of Three

Hi friends!

Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!  We sure did!
I have to admit it’s a bit strange to think that this was our last Christmas as a family of three.  I think that’s why this little guy got a little more spoiled than usual.

Stocking Stuffer Ideas

It’s crunch time people!  7 days until Christmas!  Are you ready?  I finished up most of my Christmas shopping this week just have a few stocking stuffers left to get.  Speaking of stocking stuffers, what are some of your favorites to receive?  When we turned 18 our grandparents started putting scratchers in our stockings after we used to try to steal our parents.  We would all sit and scratch away hoping one of us would come out the big winner!

If you’re like me and saved your stocking stuffers until last…  Here’s a few ideas to fill stocking for both guys and girls!

The Love Nugget has four sets of Grandparents that love him very much.

He adores each of them and gets so excited when he’s going to see them.  Unfortunately, we don’t live all that close.  Which means we aren’t able to get together as much as we’d all like.  Especially the grandparents.  They love seeing their grandson and hearing about how much he’s growing.  Especially milestones.   Even as he gets older they light up when he tells them about how he learned to ride his big boy bike, or that he has a new play structure and he climbs all the way to the top.  So since they aren’t able to see him and his success’ in person that much, we try to keep them up to date through photos.   [Read more…]

December Bucket List

December Bucket List

Happy first day of December!

I’m still not feeling great which is such a bummer since we leave for Tahoe in a few days.  I HATE being sick especially when on vacation.  So I’m getting lots of rest these next few days, drinking tons of liquids and doubling my vitamin C.  Fingers crossed I’m better in a few days!

Since today is December 1st, I thought I’d share our fun, family bucket list for this month.  25 festive activities we hope to do throughout the next few weeks.

Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Sun Butter Cups and other Paleo Christmas Treats!

Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Sun Butter Cups and other Paleo Christmas Treats!

When I was little, I wanted to give gifts to family members at Christmas time.  We didn’t have a ton of money growing up so instead fo my parents handing me money to buy gifts my mom taught me the joy of gifting baked goods!

xmas

We would spend days before Christmas baking then package them all into boxes, tins or on plates and gift them.  Since then I can’t remember a year that I haven’t been in the kitchen the days leading up to Christmas pouring, mixing, measuring and baking!  I love it!

Since I’ve changed my eating habits over the past few years, my baking has changed as well.  I still enjoy sharing yummy goodies with others I just try to keep them Paleo friendly so I can taste them too 🙂  Plus, it’s a bit healthier to share grain-free, sugar-free and often times dairy-free treats!

In case you’re looking for some healthier treat options for others or just for yourself, I’ve put together a list of recipes I’m planning to make.

Third Annual Favorite Thing Party!

Third Annual Favorite Thing Party!

Less than one week until Christmas!  I know, I know, everyone is posting about it and repeating it over and over again but I just can’t believe how fast this month has gone by.  I swear December was the longest month ever when I was a kid!  What happened?

I was feeling a bit overwhelmed last week when we were planning to have half my family at our house tomorrow to celebrate, then some of The Hubby’s on Tuesday then the rest of my family on Friday.  Since today is jam packed and I’m teaching two classes tomorrow morning I was freaking out a little.  However, I took some of the stress off my plate by saying no to Saturday.  Learning to say no has been a big part of my de-stressing and when I woke up at 2:00am with anxiety over getting everything done by Saturday, I knew I had to say no somewhere.  Now that I have I’m feeling much better and ready for all the festivities next week!

Christmas Eve Box and Teacher Gifts

Christmas Eve Box and Teacher Gifts

First off thank you all so much for the kind comments on Tuesday’s post.  It’s not alway easy being so open and honest about my health issues but it helps to think that someone out there could relate and my experiences could possibly help them 🙂

On that note, I actually just got back some testing that I had done a few days ago on some of my hormone levels.  It looks like things are much better!  My THS is now in normal range and my FreeT3 is increasing which is great!  I’m feeling better too so that’s a plus.   I’ll keep you posted as I continue on my healing journey 🙂

Switching gears now today I thought I’d share a few fun holiday gifts we put together recently.

My best friend and I used to exchange gifts every year for Christmas.  I remember when we were little we used to do 12 days of Christmas gifts and get each other something little for each day.  As we got older and moved further away, we mailed each a something each year but once we had kids we decided to just do gifts for them.  Since we don’t live close, we thought it would be fun to do something special that our kids would remember each year and identify us with.   So the past few years we’ve been putting together Christmas Eve boxes!
