Natural Body Care with Dragonfly Traditions

Natural Body Care with Dragonfly Traditions

This past year I’ve been focusing a lot on ridding toxins from our home.  We’ve been eating very clean and toxin free for a few years now but it’s amazing how many toxins can be transferred into your body through other products.  Hair care, cosmetics, lotions, cleaning products, air fresheners, etc.   Simple things you often think are harmful could be causing more damage than you know.

So little by little I’ve been eliminating ways we could be transferring toxins into our body.  The other day I published a post with a few of my favorite natural cleaning products and I’ll do another soon with a more in-depth look at the natural cleaning products I  use.  Today I wanted to focus on a skin care line I’ve been loving and is 100% natural, toxin, parabens, chemicals, dyes, fragrances, preservatives or fillers.

Liquidology Grand Opening in East Sacramento!

Liquidology Grand Opening in East Sacramento!

Hi guys!

I just got back from a fun girls trip to San Francisco to see Cirque de Soliel!  It was a blast and I’ll fill you all in on it later.  For now I just wanted to pop in to tell you about an awesome new Juice Bar that just opened in East Sacramento.

DSC_0029

We stopped by Liquidology on our way home today and were beyond impressed with their delicious, cold pressed, organic juices.

Not only were the juices great but the owners, Jeff and Julie were so warm, welcoming and passionate about sharing their love for wellbeing through juices with everyone.

The facility has a serene calming feeling to it with the original painted brick, blue tile floors and gorgeous art work done by local Artisan Moss.

It’s real moss and feels so cool!

It’s a bit unique from other juice bars in that they offer a tasting sampler of their cold pressed juices.  Similar to visiting a wine bar you can taste a few before deciding what you’d like to take home with you.

 It was so fun!

We were poured their Main Squeeze, About Last Night, Bottle Rocket, City Scout, and Vitality.

DSC_0042

Aren’t the colors gorgeous!  Besides the vibrant hues, the flavors were amazing!  I was so surprised by how much I enjoyed the About Last Night which is made with activated coconut charcoal, watermelon, lemon and mint.  It’s not only amazing for your skin but it’s an awesome hangover cure!  I’ll have to remember that 🙂

All their juices are locally sourced, organic, cold pressed, raw, and never pasteurized.  By cold pressing them you get a smooth, pulp free juice that contains more nutrients than juice extracted from a standard juicer.  Since it’s unpasteurized, the enzymes are not damaged and you receive optimal health benefits.  The shelf life is much shorter than that of pasteurized juices but trust me, you won’t be able to keep from drinking these juices ASAP!

Along with their juices, Liquidology carries raw, grab and go meals made by Chef Brooke of the The Green Boheme.  As well as Cultured Kitchen products which I’m a huge fan of already!

DSC_0033

They also offer a few different kombuchas on tap which you all know I love!

Liquidology is hosting their grand opening tomorrow from 9:00 to 4:00 and will be offering buy one get one free tastings, prizes and other fun things all day long so make sure to stop by!

Protect Colored Hair with Nexxus Color Assure

Protect Colored Hair with Nexxus Color Assure

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by Nexxus and Condé Nast. As always, all opinions are my own.

I have a drawer full of hair products.

photo-11

Products to add volume, detangle, add shine, deep condition etc.  One thing I haven’t tried yet is a primer to extend color.  Which I’ve actually needed as I often add highlights and lowlights to my hair.  The highlights tend to stay pretty bright but the low lights often fade.   So something to extend the life of my lowlights and give my hair shine and the same time would be perfect.  Good thing Nexxus thought of that and created  a Color Assure System!

DSC_0004

Overall a great complete product line to support colored hair but what I was most excited about was the pre-wash primer.

DSC_0009

A product that is a pre-treatment to shield colored hair during washing.  It’s sulfate free and infused with the following clear oils to help with hair stay vibrant and shiny!

• Almond oil is known to lock in moisture, nourish hair and reduce breakage

• Coconut oil is known to provide softness and elasticity

• Argan oil is known to improve shine and vibrancy

• White Orchid Extract is known to provide moisture and works to seal and protect hair by repelling water** and keep it from entering the core.

It’s extremely easy to use too.  All you have to do is put 5-7 pumps into your palm before washing, then apply to your hair starting at the ends and working up to the roots.  I like to run my fingers through after to get it really onto each strand.

I found that it not only helped to extend the color but when following it with the Nexxus Shampoo, Conditioner and Color Assure Glossing Tonic my hair felt EXTREMELY soft.  Plus it looked super shiny.  Always a plus!

If you color your hair, or just want shiny, vibrant locks definitly try out the Nexxus Color Assure System!

QUESTIONS –

  • Do you color your hair?
  • Do you use any products to extend the color?
What if…

What if…

I was at the gym the other day running along on the treadmill listening to a cardio fitness mix on Spotify. I’m horrible at making my own playlists so I settle for the free versions of Pandora and Spotify.  These work just fine as long as you don’t mind the advertisements.  I think I typically just tune them out but as I was sweating away an ad came on that was directed at the fitness minded individual since it was in the cardio workout mix.  It was for Jimmy Dean Breakfast sandwiches and was marketing them to be low calorie made with turkey sausage, honey wheat biscuits and egg whites.

The selling point. “It’s just 250 calories which is the perfect fit way to start your day while listening to your favorite fit mix on Spotify!”

I’m sure most of you know that these aren’t truly healthy. I mean, head to their website and check out the ingredients in these “healthy” breakfast sandwiches.
