There were many years that I didn’t eat beef or pork. I mostly ate chicken and fish for my protein sources which was easy when I was at home cooking for myself. When I went other places, it got harder. Especially with my family since they are all big meat eaters. After several Christmas’ going to my grandparents and eating only the salad while everyone else ate prime rib, my grandma cooked up something else for me. Nothing special, just some fish and zucchini but ever since then I’ve LOVED this particular kind of fish. For one because it tastes great and for two it will always remind me of the special meal she would make me every year until she passed.
Last week I posted about some natural ways I’m trying to boost my chance of getting pregnant and staying pregnant. I mentioned I’d be following up that post with a few more detailed ones on diet, supplements and fitness. So as promised here’s the first of the series starting with the best, the food!
As most of you know I’ve had my fair share of struggles the past few years with hormone and fertility issues. Which is why I’m very cautious about the products I use on a daily basis.
Deodorant is one product that I used to use everyday and not think twice about. Recently though I’ve been reading a lot about the dangerous toxins that could be in our deodorant and seeking into our bodies.
Ugh, it’s been so windy lately my rare allergies have made their appearance. I don’t typically get allergies but man, yesterday was rough with 25mph winds. I’m sure it didn’t help that we spent a good chunk of time outside at the park but it was fun! We had a play date with friends and before that had a little date at Whole Foods.
We had some green juice, tea and played Go Fish. It was fun! I feel like I spend so much time running errands that I forget to just slow down sometimes and do fun little things with my Love Nugget. I mean sure we go to the park and play at home but I’m trying to focus more on creating special memories doing little things outside of our normal day to day routines. A date playing games and hanging out was a fun one!
Like I said, the wind was not too much fun and I was feeling a little off by the time we got home around 1:30. Not to mention I was freezing! So I took a hot shower then parked it on the couch with my laptop while The Love Nugget rested upstairs. While browsing online I spent some time on the Fit Eats website checking out their delicious meals they offer!
I’ve always joked that I have this naturally sweet blood that mosquitos and other bugs just love. That’s because I literally get attacked by bugs when I’m outdoors. Especially this time of year. When the weather is warming up and there’s standing water which is breeding ground for pesky mosquitos.
Unfortunately my son got my same sweet blood because he typically gets eaten alive as well. Not only is this a very annoying issue to have because of the actual bites, but it’s frustrating since the only way to keep them at bay is with bug sprays that have dangerous chemicals. At least before that was an issue, but we’ve recently discovered a new, natural way to keep the bugs off.
This past year I’ve been focusing a lot on ridding toxins from our home. We’ve been eating very clean and toxin free for a few years now but it’s amazing how many toxins can be transferred into your body through other products. Hair care, cosmetics, lotions, cleaning products, air fresheners, etc. Simple things you often think are harmful could be causing more damage than you know.
So little by little I’ve been eliminating ways we could be transferring toxins into our body. The other day I published a post with a few of my favorite natural cleaning products and I’ll do another soon with a more in-depth look at the natural cleaning products I use. Today I wanted to focus on a skin care line I’ve been loving and is 100% natural, toxin, parabens, chemicals, dyes, fragrances, preservatives or fillers.
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf California Raisins.
Who has kids going back to school? I’m happy to join the back to school crowd with The Love Nugget beginning preschool this year.
Who likes nut butter?
If you saw me you’d see both my hands up as I love it!
As does the rest of my household. Actually I’d say The Hubby and Love Nugget enjoy it more than I do if that’s even possible. I have such a hard time keeping my fingers out of the jar that I’ll often avoid having it in the house. Which tends to frustrate my boys.
So I keep smaller jars of homemade Creamy Cashew Butter, Sunbutter or my latest Honey Vanilla Almond Cashew Butter in the cupboard.
My husband and I have always loved to travel. Before we had The Love Nugget we took the opportunity to vacation whenever we could. A long weekend on the coast , a week in Mexico or a quick trip to Tahoe if we could budget it, we did it!
Anniversary trip to Sonoma last year
Now that our family has grown and we have more responsibilities (AKA – The Love Nugget), it’s a little more difficult to just pick up and leave. Plus, let’s face it, spending long hours in the car or on a plane with a three year old is not exactly ideal. However, we definitely still enjoy our family trips and make them happen when we can. We just have to make sure we are a little more prepared for whatever hiccups might occur. Like when a certain little man is over tired, over stimulated, cranky and hungry!
I can’t even believe I missed it but this past month marked two years for My Healthy Happy Home! With everything that has happened in the past few months it slipped my mind and I didn’t really have a chance to celebrate or thank all of you for an amazing past two years. I had to chuckle looking back at some of my first posts this morning and seeing how far I’ve come.
An early recipe picture. I’m no professional photographer but I think I’ve learned a few tricks to improve my photos 🙂
I still have a long way to go but blogging is definitely something that always has room for growth or improvement. This year I have some definite goals as to what I want to do with my blogging journey. I just hope to find time to do them!
A huge thank you to all of my amazing readers! Those who have been with me from the beginning and those that are just joining me I’m so appreciative and thankful to have you all!
To celebrate today I’ve got a giveaway with some of my favorite Paleo friendly treats!
