Hey there! Long time no chat. I didn’t mean to be MIA for so long. I had just planned on taking a few weeks and before I knew it, it’s been well over a month! Sorry but to be honest, I’ve been enjoying my time with my littles 🙂
This past weekend we celebrated a certain special someone’s fifth birthday!!!!
I’m not quite sure how this little guy is already five. Everyone always tells you to enjoy those first years as the time goes by so fast but you can’t understand it until you’re actually experiencing it. Time definitely flies! It feels like just yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital.
As Easter approaches, I’m reposting this fun, natural Easter Egg Dye activity to do with your kiddos. We will be dying eggs later this week!
Good morning friends!
Happy Monday, happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day and happy day off for those of you that have it 🙂
The Love Nugget is off school today and we actually don’t have too much planned. Again, we have rain so we’ll probably stick around the house, playing, watching movies, and going for bike rides when we can catch a break in the rain. I teach the 6:00am this morning then we don’t have much planned for the day. Maybe the mall… Maybe the library… Maybe jammies and movies all day!
Our weekend was pretty low-key again which I honestly don’t mind much lately. We are so busy during the week that it’s nice to have a little break over the weekend. Friday we made dinner, played legos, then The Hubby and I started a new show after The Love Nugget went to bed.
Next week is Thanksgiving which means Christmas is right around the corner. Crazy! I try to get a jump on shopping especially before the crazy holiday shoppers hit the stores. It can be World War 4 if you wait too long!
The Love Nugget has been making his list basically since this summer. Every time he says he wants something in the store I would tell him he’d have to ask Santa. So he’s been mentally jotting down EVERYTHING he wants. If he were to write it all down it would be a mile long! While I do intend on asking him some specific things he’d like, I also put together some things I’m pretty sure he’d enjoy.
It’s Halloween week! Not only that but it’s a full moon tonight. Oh I feel for teachers right now! A full moon and Halloween week? No fun! The only plus side for them is that everyone has Sunday to recuperate after Halloween. AND its daylight savings so we get an extra hour of sleep. I’m sure teachers everywhere are singing their praises for that!
Anyway, since it’s almost Halloween I thought I’d share a post I did last year with a fun kids snack idea and super easy craft. Just in case you need a little something extra to decorate your front door with 🙂
First, a monster snack!
Happy Monday Friends!
How was your weekend? Do anything fall related? Pumpkin patch? Apple picking? Fall festival?
The Hubby was gone this past weekend so it was just The Love Nugget and I. While we missed him, we also enjoyed some mom and son time doing all sorts of fun things.
Friday we kicked off the weekend with his much-anticipated (by him of course) field trip to Bishops pumpkin farm.
Hope you all had a great first weekend of October. This month is a busy one for us with birthday’s, weddings, and lots of fall fun planned. We kicked off this month with a weekend at Grammy’s and my nephews birthday party in Redding.

Man I’ve had a busy week! Between returning from Blend and getting ready for The Love Nugget’s birthday party on Saturday my week has been crazy! All good though and looking forward to celebrating our little guy tomorrow! Not really little anymore though.
I promise I didn’t forget about Kid’s in the Kitchen. We just haven’t done a lot of cooking together lately for some reason. The Love Nugget is getting more into playing with legos, transformers and out in the dirt than spending time with me in the kitchen. Sniff, sniff… The joys of boys right!?!
However, the other day I got him to help me make a nut-free, grain-free and dairy-free snack that he could safely take with him to school. Like most schools these days, his is a nut-free zone. So even though we love using them in our snacks for a good source of protein and healthy fats, we have to come up with other options for school snacks. Which is okay because I like to get creative!
So here’s our latest Kid’s in the Kitchen feature 🙂
First things first, before bringing your child into the kitchen to help, make sure your counters, etc are safe. No knives, sharp objects, or things that they can injure themselves with. Obviously make sure they thoroughly wash their hands and have a safe stool to stand on. We break that last rule a little and often use one of our bar stools but would love to have one of these for our kitchen adventures some day!
Now, once your kitchen is safe and your kids are clean, apron on and ready to go, it’s time to start the fun!
