Christmas Celebration 3 and 4

Christmas Celebration 3 and 4

Have you seen that movie Four Christmas’ with Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon?  That’s us plus two more Christmas’.  Well, minus the funny plot but we are all over the place during the holidays.  Which we enjoy!

In case you missed it, here’s my post with our first and second Christmas celebrations.  Now onto our 3rd and 4th!

Christmas Eve, after spending the day at my Grandfather’s house, we came home for the night.  We got home a little after 7:00 pm, put the Love Nugget to bed then set up his toys for Christmas morning.

It took me forever to put those Lego’s together!  I wanted it to look like the picture which really didn’t matter since he tore it down within 30 minutes. At least it looked cute for a little bit!

I woke up early and got in a quick but great workout.

I knew I would be indulging in lots of goodies (which I did), and this workout was the perfect way to start the day!

When the Love Nugget came down stairs, we had the camera set up to record his reaction so no pictures of his initial reaction.  He went straight to his Mickey and trike then from one toy to the next very quickly.  It was so fun to watch his excitement as he checked out all his new toys.

The White Coyote also got a stocking this year which he dug right into.

He was pretty stoked to find a new toy and some yummy treats.

The hubby and I only exchanged stockings this year rather than a ton of gifts.  I thought we were being very low-key and not buying too much but he spoiled me with new TOMS, a Francesca’s gift card, a gorgeous new necklace from White Plum Boutique, a new iphone case, a new phone plug for my car and this great nail/hand kit.  Way more than I expected!

After cleaning up, eating a quick breakfast and packing up our car, we headed off to our next Christmas at The Hubby’s grandparents house just under 2 hours away.  The Hubby has a very large family so there is always a ton of people at their holiday gatherings.  It’s always a good time though with lots of yummy food!

This year was especially fun because there was a special visitor 🙂

Santa!  The Hubby’s uncle dressed up as Santa and surprised all the kids.  It was pretty cute!  The Love Nugget even sat on his lap twice!  He was pretty skeptical at first and ran away when he came in the door but rather than comforting and sheltering him (I know, mean mom), I forced him to stand by Santa, then plopped him on his lap.  He cried for a second…

Then realized there was nothing to be afraid of.

That and he got a present 🙂

It was so fun to see all the kids so excited with Santa!  Hopefully he’ll return next year and the Love Nugget will be as excited as his cousin was!

Christmas celebrations 1 & 2

Christmas celebrations 1 & 2

Hi guys!

I hope you all have a wonderful past few days and enjoyed whatever it was your were celebrating!  We had such a fun and busy past few days that I’m going to have to break into a few different posts for you.

We began our Christmas celebrations with my family coming to our house on Sunday for lots of fun and lots of love 🙂

The Love Nugget was excited to have so many people over and he was being quite the ham but we managed to get an okay family picture.

We decided to keep it pretty low-key with appetizers, sweets (which I forgot to get a picture of) and of coarse, holiday beverages!

I mentioned before how much my family loves to play games when we get together so I led everyone in a fun Christmas game I found here.

Everyone was drawing a holiday scene on their paper plates while they were on their heads.  This is only half the group that was playing.  With a large crowd it was pretty funny!

We also played a hilarious game of Guesstures.  One of our favorites!

They hubby gets really into it but… his team lost (mine won!)  We’re not competitive at all 😉

Besides games, there were also presents that somebody loved!  It’s funny to look back at these first pictures compared to pictures from the end of the week because he was so cautious in the beginning while opening his gifts.  Towards the end there was tissue paper and wrapping paper being tossed everywhere!

The adults did a gift exchange which was fun!

The Love Nugget had such a fun time playing with his new presents and spending time with family and so did everyone else.

The next day since my mom was there, the hubby and I headed to the gym to get in a quick workout.  It’s been ages since we’ve done a workout together and it was a lot of fun!  Since he’s super into crossfit right now and I’ve been wanting to try it, we did a crossfit workout from Blonde

Fitness Friday: BEAST Mode - Blonde Ponytail

It was a good one and I surprised myself with the weight I was able to use.

We came home, cleaned up and then got on the road to head to our next Christmas!

As I mentioned the other day, this year was a little tough with my grandma being gone.  She loved Christmas and ever year we all looked forward to going to their house, opening stockings, opening gifts, enjoying good food and lots of great company. Despite it being a pretty tough day, especially for my Grandpa, it was also a fun day.

The kids painted some ornaments we made.

Yes, my nephew has a Mohawk shaved in his head.  That would be my brothers doing…

The Love Nugget ran around playing and enjoying family.

We enjoyed watching them open gifts from Great Grandpa and did a fun gift exchange with the cousins.  We also posed for some pictures 🙂

It turned out to be a fun day and the best part was receiving a special gift from my grandfather.

My grandmother loved to craft and made lots of Christmas ornaments which she often gifted to others.  While setting up for Christmas this year, my cousin and grandpa found a few boxes of handmade Christmas ornaments the my grandmother had made.  So we were all gifted a special ornament to have a little memory of grandma on our tree every year 🙂

It was a pretty good few days and it was only just beginning!  Stay tuned for the rest of our festivities tomorrow!

  • Does your family play games at gatherings?
  • Do you do gift exchanges at all?

Thankful Thursday

Good morning!

I’m surrounded by sick boys 🙁 The Hubby and The Love Nugget are both full on sick.  The Love Nugget now has a cough and stuffy nose which was waking him up pretty much every hour last night.  Finally around 5:45, I brought him to bed with us which meant I was awake.  I can’t sleep when he’s in bed with us.  He wiggles too much.  It’s hard not to get frustrated when you want to sleep and someone is keeping  you up.  Plus, I had planned to get up at 5:00 to go to spin since I missed it yesterday but turned off my alarm after waking up all night long.  However, as I lay there with The Love Nugget sleeping on my chest, I couldn’t help but feel thankful.  I thought about those parents who no longer have the chance to hold their little one, sick or well and who are in so much pain right now.  I forgot about what little frustration I was feeling and enjoyed this cuddle time.  Even if it was after a night of no sleep and at 5:45 in the mornings, I treasure it and am thankful for it 🙂

Being awake half the night also gave me some time to think about a few other things I’m thankful for.  So, I’m linking up again with Jessie at Jessie Loves to Run for Thankful Thursday!

First of all, I know I’ve said it before, but I’m thankful for my family.  Through the good, the bad and the ugly they are always there and I’m so thankful to have each and every one of them!

I’m thankful that I married into such a wonderful family as well.  I feel blessed to be able to say that I truly love my in-laws and am honored to be part of their family 🙂

My wonderful in laws 🙂
I’m thankful to have had the opportunity to travel with the hubby.   I feel so blessed that we’ve been able to see so many wonderful places, meet new people and learn about new cultures.

I’m thankful that my husband works for such a wonderful company.  When we were newly dating he was working for a very large, well established company.  He was offered a new position at a newly started business which was a big decision and quite the gamble for him since they were so new and so small.  He accepted and now almost 8 years later is doing very well.  We feel so grateful to be a part of a company that really honors their employees and puts family first.

I’m thankful that I was able to conceive The Love Nugget and have a healthy pregnancy.  All to often I hear stories of how hard it is for others to get pregnant or who have issues during pregnancy.  I was very lucky to have a pretty smooth 9 months, labor and delivery and I often forget what others go through.  I’m so thankful not only for how great I felt during, but for what I was blessed with after 🙂
My little Love Nugget 🙂
My heart continues to ache for those involved in the Newtown shooting and I think taking time to show love and feel love from those who are important to you is so needed right now.  It’s an unfortunate reminder that as much as we hope we can protect our loved ones, we are not always in control and sometimes God has a different plan for them.  So take Jessie’s advice and stop to think about some things that your thankful for 🙂
