Weekend Adventures

Weekend Adventures

We have this thing with The Love Nugget.  If we have plans to go somewhere or do something fun, we don’t always tell him where we are going or what we are doing.   For one if something comes up and we don’t end up going we won’t have to deal with his disappointment.  Two, I like to keep him on the edge of his seat.  Sometimes we play games where he tries to guess what we are doing.  Or who we might see.  Then sometimes he just asks over and over and over what we are doing.  The best part is seeing his face light up when we meet a friend he hasn’t seen for awhile, or go somewhere fun.

Which is what we did this weekend.  Twice 🙂

Friday night there was a grand opening at a new event center called The Party Place.  They were having all sorts of booths and kids fun.  We surprised him by taking him there to play for awhile then out to pizza which we almost never do.  He was stoked even though he looks grumpy in this photo…

WIAW Under the Weather

WIAW Under the Weather

Happy Wednesday!

I’m still not feeling all that great.  The Love Nugget’s cold germs spread to me and I’m hanging on to it 🙁  No bueno!  Hoping it’s gone by this weekend for Halloween fun!  AND have tons of fun planned for Halloween day.  Starting with a special workout I’ll be teaching at Afterburn,

I’m working on a Halloween themed playlist right now.  Any ideas?

Then we’re going to a fall festival at Growing Brilliant which is always a fun time.

A few years ago at the Growing Brilliant Fall Festival

Then home to shower, change and get ready for some fun with friends at one of our favorite local wineries.

So fun that they are making it kid and adult friendly 🙂

After we have our fun there we are heading back to our house with friends for trick-or-treating, chili and just hanging out with my little fighter pilot 🙂

Hee hee 🙂

Anyway, that’s our Halloween plans!  So I’m resting and trying to get better by Saturday…  Wish me luck!

On another note, I thought I’d share a little of what I ate yesterday for today’s WIAW post!

I was up at 6:00am which is actually sleeping in for me.  I grabbed a few macadamia nuts and raisins, pounded a water then jumped into my 21 day fix leg workout.  Glad to have these 30 minute workouts on hand when I want something quick to do at home.  Since I wasn’t feeling all that great, I took it easy and was glad it wasn’t a cardio day.  By the time I was finished, The Love Nugget was up asking for breakfast.  So I made us both our breakfasts then sat down to eat with him.

A simple one this morning of Teeccino with organic heavy cream, a hard-boiled egg with avocado, a turkey apple sausage patty and a slice of my Paleo Pumpkin Bread.

I taught the morning classes at the gym and after ran into Target to grab a few things.  Which included a box of my favorite seasonal LARABAR.

After picking up The Love Nugget, we ran to Pressed Juice and Whole Foods to grab a few things for lunch.

I wasn’t feeling all that hungry so drank a juice, munched on some kale chips and an un-pictured Epic Bar.

A little later I drank the rest of my pressed juice and ate more kale chips for a snack.

We had a busy afternoon and by the time we got home it was time to make dinner and eat dinner.

Baked salmon, roasted kabocha and steamed broccoli.  Yum!

After, we finally carved some pumpkins something The Love Nugget has been looking forward to doing for weeks!

Although, he’s still not much of a helper on the actual carving part…  Which is why we went with the basic this time.  No stencils or fancy faces.  They still look good though!

I’m off to an acupuncture appointment this morning which I’ve been loving lately!  I’ll have to share more about it soon but I highly recommend it for any ailments you’re suffering from.  Or if you just need to de-stress and relax 🙂

  • Have you carved pumpkins yet this year?
  • Have you tried acupuncture before?  Love it or hate it?
  • What was something you ate yesterday?

Monster Snack and Halloween Door Hanger (From the Archives)

Monster Snack and Halloween Door Hanger (From the Archives)

It’s Halloween week!  Not only that but it’s a full moon tonight.   Oh I feel for teachers right now!  A full moon and Halloween week?  No fun!  The only plus side for them is that everyone has Sunday to recuperate after Halloween.  AND its daylight savings so we get an extra hour of sleep.  I’m sure teachers everywhere are singing their praises for that!

Anyway, since it’s almost Halloween I thought I’d share a post I did last year with a fun kids snack idea and super easy craft.  Just in case you need a little something extra to decorate your front door with 🙂

First, a monster snack!

Paleo Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread

Paleo Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread

Good morning!

Hope you all had a great weekend.  I mentioned on Friday that we were going to a wedding this past weekend but unfortunately The Hubby ended up going alone.  I wasn’t feeling that great and The Love Nugget was still recovering from a cold so we opted to stay home and rest.

I taught the morning classes at the gym then we ran a few errands which ended up taking much longer than anticipated.  Once we got home we parked it on the couch and got in some good resting time.  Which included cuddling and a movie.  Dumbo!   Although, The Love Nugget wasn’t sure he wanted to watch it and I couldn’t figure out why.  It’s not really scary like some other Disney movies that he dislikes.  Well, when they animals are making fun of Dumbo and he gets sad The Love Nugget turned to me angrily and said, “See mom, this is why I didn’t want to watch this movie!”  I fast forwarded it 🙂

I woke up Sunday feeling a little better so got in a quick 21 Day Fix workout before spending the morning meal prepping and cleaning.   It’s been a few weeks since I’ve gotten in a good meal prepping Sunday and I forgot how I tend to get going once I get started.  I only planned to roast some veggies, bake some chicken apple sausage, boil some eggs and chop some veggies but I ended up throwing together some protein bites and baking a fall inspired treat.

Friday Favorites – All things Fall!

Friday Favorites – All things Fall!

It was officially fall a few weeks ago but we are just now getting closer to fall like temperatures. Well, I say that then remember that I just checked the weather and it will be in the 90s again this weekend 🙁 Not what I consider, cool, crisp, fall weather. All the same we are making the most of this fall by enjoying all things revolving around one of my favorite times of the year.

In the spirit of fall I thought I’d share a few Fall favorites as I join Heather for her Friday Favorites link up party!

First up, a few favorites from our week 🙂

Favorite Date Night – The Hubby and I enjoyed a Monday night out at Paul Martin’s this past week.  So nice to have some alone time and yummy food!

Ahhh…. Fall :-)

Ahhh…. Fall :-)

Hi friends!

Hope you’re all having a wonderful week!   We’re on the home stretch just one more day until Fri-yay!

This weeks been quite wonderful mainly because of the cooler, fall-like weather we are having.  We even got some rain yesterday and are expecting more today.    The rain made me want to put on cozies and curl up on the couch yesterday.  Which was just what I did for a few hours while The Love Nugget napped.  A mug of tea, yoga pants, and my laptop.  It was wonderful!   Short lived of course.  The delivery man came to the door causing the dogs to go crazy (as usual) and wake The Love Nugget after an hour.  It was definitely an hour enjoyed though!

The cooler weather had me itching to bake something.  Since we still have a ton of apples from our visit to Apple Hill, I whipped up these Mini Paleo Apple Muffins to take to Afterburn today.

Weekends are for Fun!

Weekends are for Fun!

Hi friends!

Long time no chat.  Things have been a bit busy over here lately which means blogging has been but on the back burner.  I’m not giving up on it yet but you may not see as much from me as life just seems to get busier and busier!

Speaking of busy, we had a lot of fun, busy happenings this past weekend which seems to be the usual around here.  It’s funny because you often here people say, “weekends are for resting.”  Not in our house!  Well actually, probably not in a house with anyone who has young kids.  These days everyone is running around to different sports, parties, activities etc.  It’s all fun but definitely busy!

To kick off our fun, busy weekend, we hosted our monthly friends dinner at our house.  This months chosen country was France!  I’m going to share more details about what our fun French dinner a little later but for now I’ll tell you it was definitely a success!

After a late one Friday I woke up Saturday feeling a little exhausted.  However, no time to rest!  I had to quickly get up, ready and out the door to teach the two morning classes at Afterburn.  I demonstrated through both classes then changed and my boys met me to head downtown for the Sacramento Farm to Fork Festival!

Marvelous Friendsgiving!

Marvelous Friendsgiving!

Hi friends!

I’ve been experiencing technical difficulties with my website which is never much fun.  After a long few hours last night chatting with Blue Host the problem is still not solved.  Unfortunately it looks to be internet related so I’ll have to tackle that today.  Luckily I had most of this post finished and hopefully you can still see it on your end!

Pumpkin Pie Jello Jigglers

Pumpkin Pie Jello Jigglers

I know I’ve said it before but it’s still so hot here!  Ugh, frustrating to say the least.

I’ve been trying to make it feel a bit more like fall by lighting my harvest candles, putting out fall decorations, and of course making pumpkin flavored things!

The hard part has been eating the warmer, comfort foods with the temps still being in the upper 90’s.  So making something cooler and more refreshing but still having the flavors of fall has been ideal.

Like these super easy, delicious and extremely nutritious Pumpkin Pie Jello Jigglers!

Pumpkin Patch Fun and another Pumpkin Recipe!

Good morning friends!

First off, thank you for the support on yesterday’s post.  I feel much more confident about my choices and am definitely going to stand my ground!

I’m beyond excited for today.  The Hubby and I are taking off on a little getaway to Tahoe for a few days of hiking, relaxing and enjoying each other’s company.
