I know I’m so hit and miss with posting these days. I’m definitely finding it harder to actually sit down to blog lately. When I do get to sit, I’m usually nursing or holding Little Squish (the nickname he’s earned because he squishes up into a ball and squishes his face up) so I can’t do much typing. As he gets bigger and we get more into a routine I’m hoping that changes… For now I’m just soaking up all those cuddling moments 🙂
I did find some time last night to sit down to type so thought I’d do a quick WIAW post. Especially since I’ve been wanting to share a super yummy snack I’ve been loving lately. So keep reading!
Little Squish has been waking up around 4:00 or 4:30 to eat then goes back to sleep until 7:00 or later. I’ve been getting up this week around 6:30 to try to get in a quick walk or workout before he gets up. When I wake up, I eat a breast feeding ball and drink a big cup of water. I’ve also been pumping at this time since he doesn’t want to eat until after 8:00. This has helped me to get start a freezer supply. Not much but a little something is better than nothing 🙂
I’ve also been drinking a cup of coffee with a little coconut milk in it but am cutting that out this week to see if it’s the culprit to Little Squish’s tummy troubles…. I’ll touch on that in another post. After coffee, water and one or two protein bites, I don’t find myself hungry until 8:30 or later. I usually whip up a smoothie since it’s easy to eat while cleaning up or nursing.
This one was my Oatmeal Cookie Smoothie and was so good!
Since I’m trying to keep my milk supply up, I force myself to eat a snack even if I’m not hungry. Usually it’s a few breastfeeding bites, an Epic bar or one of my new favorite snacks, Oat Mama Lactation Bars.
These are SO good! I tried to make my own at home but they were no where near as delicious. I’ll give you more details about these healthy, lactation bars in a few. For now, here’s a look at my lunch.
When I was pregnant, salads and chicken sounded so gross to me. So I’m super stoked that I’m back to craving big bowls of greens and proteins. In this mix was mixed greens, baked chicken, roasted sweet potatoes, tomatoes, lemon juice, salt and pepper. So good!
This filled me up pretty good but around 3:30 I ate a snack of half an apple with some sun butter on it. Like I said, even if I’m not super hungry, I try to make myself eat a little something to keep my breast milk supply up. It’s so hard!
Dinner was one that was easy to throw together which is SO great these days with a little dude who likes to be held all afternoon…
These fish tacos with zucchini topped with mango avocado salsa were easy to prepare and pretty good!
After dinner I had a cup of frozen grapes and another breast feeding bite. Working to keep that supply up!
Now, before I leave you, here’s a little more information about those yummy bars I mentioned earlier 🙂
Oat Mama Bars are extra special because not only are they made with simple, wholesome ingredients. They also have Galactagogues foods to help support breastmilk production.
Oats, flaxseed, and brewers yeast to name a few.
They currently come in four delicious flavors, Apple Cinnamon Raisin, Chocolate Almond Coconut, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, and Nut & Berry.
I’m not yet pumping and able to really see my how my milk production is but I definitely feel like I’m producing more milk than I was with The Love Nugget. I’m sure Oat Mama bars are contributing to that increased supply! If you’re breastfeeding, I highly recommend them!
That’s it for today! I’m going to try my hardest to check in at least once more this week 🙂
