Pregnancy Update Weeks 20-23

It surprises me how much different this pregnancy is compared to my pregnancy with The Love Nugget.  So far I’ve gained more weight and I have more side effects than I experienced before.   I’ll get into more of that in a minute.  I think most of the difference is contributed to the fact that I’m 5 years older now than I was then.  I guess age makes a big difference!

22 weeks 

How are you feeling?  Feeling okay but definitively not great.  I just don’t love being pregnant and going through all these changes.  It’s a good thing it’s all worth it in the end!   I’m noticing simple things are getting more difficult like putting on my shoes, picking things up from the ground, walking up stairs, and even riding a bike.  I tried to do a very slow jog the other day after talking to my doctor and it definitely didn’t feel great.  Which is funny because with The Love Nugget I ran up until 8 months!

Are you exercising?  Yes.  Just at a much more modified pace than I was before.  Since I discovered I had Placenta Previa around 18 weeks I’ve had to lower my intensity.  I know some people disagree with me exercising at all but everything I’m doing has been approved by my doctor.  Who knows me well and knows that I have and currently live an active lifestyle.  He knows what’s safe for me and is allowing me to continue exercising just not as intensely.  I’ll go more into exactly what I’m doing in a separate post soon 🙂

Are you sleeping good?  Yes and no.  I find that I’m sleeping harder these days and fall asleep right away but still wake up a few times drenched in sweat.  I also still have a lot of back and hip pain during the night that wakes me up 🙁

Do you have any food cravings?   It’s funny I’ll think I don’t really have cravings but then I’ll notice that I’m only wanting to eat certain foods and some that just don’t sound good.

Do you have any aversions?  

Not big on protein in the form of meat lately.  In particular, chicken.  It sort of grosses me out.

Brussel Sprouts

Roasted almonds

Thai food

Mexican food

Are you missing anything? 

I miss being able to workout as hard or as much as I once did but enjoying staying active still.  I’m starting to miss drinking wine more and more these days.  It’s not so much that I’m craving it, but there are definitely times that I’d love a big glass.  I miss eating raw sushi, drinking fresh juice from Pressed and Liquidology 🙁

Anything New or Exciting?  

The baby is definitely getting more active these days and The Hubby was able to feel him a few weeks ago.  The Love Nugget said he did but I’m not sure he really did.  He’s not patient enough to hold still in order to feel it.

I started having some Braxton Hicks contractions which is annoying.  Nothing painful or crazy but enough to know what’s going on.

I had to pull out some maternity clothes 🙁  Then I laughed.  All my jeans were flare jeans.  Ummm… yeah not so much in style anymore.  Some of them will work but I had to head to gap to pick up a few pairs of skinny jeans I could wear with boots for the time being.  I actually found a great pair at H&M maternity that are so comfortable!  I

Anything you’re looking forward to?  

They won’t do another internal scan to see if the placenta has moved up until around 28 weeks so I’m very anxiously awaiting that time.  Since I’m high risk I get to go in every four weeks to have an ultra sound so I’m always looking forward to getting to see our little guy up close and personal 🙂

  1. Ugh I keep waking up sweaty too. My husband uses like 4748289273 blankets and I keep shoving them over to the side. Wish flare jeans would come back.

      So over hormones! Good thing it’s worth it 🙂 AND yes! I did notice the other day in gap there were quite a few flare jeans on display so maybe we’ll be in luck!

    I am feeling you on a lot of your cravings, especially the yogurt parfaits and the cookies/chocolate. I have been so bad lately and I made brownie’s twice (once on valentine’s day and once yesterday) for no reason. I decided that I need to fix those cravings somehow because they are taking over!!
