Rejuvinate your Body with Green Smoothies!

My first trimester I didn’t really want anything except carbs.  Mostly in the form of pizza or crackers.  My normal foods like vegetables, fruits, and smoothies were not my friend.  I wanted to drink them especially since it was a way I could get in some produce but I couldn’t even think about drinking them.  Luckily around 14 weeks something changed and suddenly smoothies sounded so good!  Perfect timing too since drinking smoothies is such a good way to reboot your system after a few weeks of holiday splurges.  Cookies, chocolate, and more cookies sound familiar to anyone else?  Well I sure enjoyed quite of a few of those and now that I’m finally craving some good, healthy food again I’m looking forward to drinking some daily green smoothies.

If you’re like me and looking to kick the New Year off on a healthy note with some healthy green smoothies,  here are some ideas for you:


Start with the basics, some fruit, greens, liquids, then add in some flavor.  Get creative and have fun with it!  The options are endless!

  1. Great idea! I couldn’t eat veggies for my first trimester either and was going way off the rails with the holidays and all. I actually got a Ninja for Christmas so I’ve been doing smoothies which allows me to get some more veggies in thank god. I put broccoli in a smoothie the other day and I couldn’t even taste it!

      Broccoli in a smoothie!?! I’ve never thought to do that. Was it raw or cooked?

  2. Raw! Couldn’t taste it at all, that’s why I love the ninja. I had fruit and protein powder in it as well.
