Good morning friends!
How was your weekend? Do anything festive? Holiday party? Christmas shopping? We did a little bit of everything. Some Christmas shopping, festive movies and two holiday parties. Unfortunately I wasn’t feeling so hot. Last week I had been feeling so much better and thought I was past the first trimester hump. Thursday I had a little headache and it just continued on through Sunday. It was at it’s peak each night in the midst of each party. So I didn’t get a chance to enjoy both nights as much as I would have liked to. Regardless they were still fun!
Friday evening we had a little holiday party at Afterburn. We left at 9:00 but I heard the party went on well into the early morning hours. It was a good one!
Saturday my MIL came down to watch The Love Nugget so we hung out with her, did some shopping and went to lunch. That night The Hubby’s company had their Christmas party which is always a good time!
I didn’t get many pictures because I just really wasn’t feeling good. I ended up taking the shuttle back with a few other wives who are also pregnant around 10:30 and went to bed. Luckily I woke up feeling a little better and with energy to hit up the gym.
30 minutes on the elliptical followed by this sweaty workout all while listening to the second season of Serial. Anyone else listening? I’m already hooked!
Then we went to breakfast at Bacon and Butter with some friends. I wasn’t able to eat much for dinner the previous night which meant I was starving at breakfast.
So much goodness!
The rest of the day was spent on the couch, relaxing which was marvelous!
On another note, I know many of you have been wondering about that big announcement I made last week. During the past few months I’ve written some posts to fill you in on our pregnancy so I’ll be sharing those with you through the next few weeks.
So, let’s start way back when I gave you all my last fertility update I shared with you all that we were trying on our own one last time before going back to our infertility doctor. The truth is… I was actually pregnant when that post was published. I had started it before I found out but then forgot about it. So it got published later but actually worked out because I was able to avoid a lot of questions from friends and family.
Like I said in that post, I did take some time to myself and after my second month of a normal cycle decided I was ready to REALLY try on our own. Since my cycles aren’t a normal 28 days this made things a little difficult but because I’ve become so aware of my body I pretty much knew exactly when I was ovulating. During the time that we were trying to conceive, I focused heavily on eating lots of fertility foods. I did the whole, pineapple everyday post ovulation, ate lots of brazil nuts, goji berries, maca root powder and healthy fats.
The Hubby left for a hunting trip on October 7th and didn’t return until the 16th. We left that day for a wedding and I was set to take a pregnancy test that Sunday. I had decided I would try not to think about it and enjoy my time at the wedding with friends. Friday night at the rehearsal dinner I had a few sips of wine and immediately felt sick. I was so nauseous I could barely eat and pretty much knew I was pregnant. That night I had a dream that I took a pregnancy test and it was positive. I woke up at 7:00am and immediately took a test and it was positive! I laid back down next to The Hubby and couldn’t contain my excitement. So even though he had been up late celebrating his good friends upcoming nuptials, I woke him to share the good news. His response (with one eye open), “are you messing with me?” Ha! Nope!
Of course we were excited but also very nervous. I think we were both not allowing ourselves to get too excited about it because of our unfortunate history with miscarriage. So there wasn’t a lot of celebrating which now when I look back on it saddens me some. Finding out your pregnant after trying for so long should be such an exciting time in your life. However, we didn’t really celebrate. We talked about the steps we would take to keep the baby. The drugs I would take, the doctors appointments I needed to schedule and the fears that we had. Not exactly the most ideal way to spend your first few days of pregnancy…
Regardless, I had a good feeling about this one and immediately called my doctors office. They couldn’t get me in for a few weeks but my doctor called me a few days later to discuss the path we would need to take. A few days later I had an intake appointment where they took
all lots of my blood. A few days after that I had my first ultrasound to make sure it wasn’t a tubal pregnancy. What we saw was both good but…
to be continued…
