Day Trip and Wild Friends!

Day Trip and Wild Friends!

Happy Friday!

Hope you all had a wonderful week!  We had one filled with work and fun.

Wednesday we went on a little day trip with some friends to the Discovery Museum in Sausalito.  Just a few hours south and definitely worth the drive!  We arrived about an hour after they opened and they were already packed.  It was the first Wednesday of the month which happens to be their free day.  The great thing was that even though there were a ton of people there, everything was so spread out and there was so much to do that we never felt it was too crowded.

The kids of course didn’t notice the people either as they ran around just having a blast!

We spent several hours just exploring, playing, and enjoying the gorgeous weather.

Then we found a little spot by the water and enjoyed a picnic lunch.

These two are inseparable lately.  We joke they’ll get married some day 😉  Hee hee!

After lunch we cruised around the town of Sausalito for a while checking out the shops, watching the waves and enjoying some ice cream.

We didn’t plan out our drive home very well because we left right at rush hour and our two hour drive ended up taking us closer to four…  Luckily these three were passed out within minutes of getting on the road.

It was such a fun day and one we talked about repeating again soon!

On another note, I wanted to share something we’ve been enjoying in our house lately.

Wild Friends Nut Butters!

I have to admit I had heard of Wild Friends before but hadn’t tried any because I thought they only made peanut butter.  Which we don’t really tend to buy for our house.  However, when I was at Idea last month the Sweat Pink team had some Wild Friends samples out.  They make Sunflower seed butter and Almond Butter!   So when I got the opportunity to sample a few of their products I delightfully agreed 🙂

Everyone in our house loves nut butters especially this little guy 🙂

I love having food on hand that is non-GMO, organic, protein packed and high in healthy fats like Wild Friends is.

This past week, we’ve been having fun making healthy snacks and lunches with Wild Friends Maple Sunflower Butter and Chocolate Sunflower Butter.

It’s fun to get the Love Nugget involved in the kitchen and he enjoys it even more when he can taste as we go 🙂

The other day we made a healthy snack of ants on a log using both flavors of Sunflower Butter, Goji Berries, Raisins, and Sunflower Seeds.

Since we are heading out on a little vacay soon, we prepped a yummy snack recipe to take along for the road trip.

Simple enough to make that your little ones can join in just The Love Nugget did 🙂

Plus since it’s nut free you might be able to send it to school with them as a healthy snack.  Bonus!

Maple Sunflower Bombs

Maple Sunflower Bombs

  • 1 cup oats
  • 1/3 cup raw sunflower seeds
  • 2 tbsp. Vegan Vanilla Protein Powder (Optional)
  • 2 tbsp. Wild Friends Maple Sunflower Butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp. coconut oil (may not need if omitting protein powder)

  1. Place all ingredients into a food processor and blend until a clumpy mixture forms.
  2. Roll into balls then store in the fridge for up to two weeks.
  3. I doubt they'll last that long though 😉
  4. Enjoy!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

  • If you’re local, have you been to Discovery Museum?
  • If not local, do you have something similar in your town?
  • Have you tried Wild Friends Nut Butters?

  1. OH my gosh I love that picture of them all passed out in the car… now that’s a successful day!

Love wild friends, too – their chocolate flavors are so good, and I love that it’s just cocoa powder and a little bit of agave, not a bunch of sugar or other additives.

The Love Nugget is obsessed with the packets now. He sucks them down and since they are pretty clean I’m good with that 🙂

  2. YUM. YUM. YUM. I want those Maple balls like right now! And that cute hat…though I am willing to bet you pull it off better than I would ever be able to 😉

  3. I love that brand of sunflower butter. The protein bites look delicious! Thanks for sharing the recipe!
