WIAW – Protein Frosty Recipe

Hi friends!

How is it seriously Wednesday already!  I feel like we are still unpacking and cleaning then doing it again every week lately.  All for fun stuff but still very tiring…  All the same I’m popping in real quick to say hello and fill you in on some yummy eats lately.  More specifically yesterdays meals as I join in with Jenn for WIAW!

Tuesday’s are my early morning days teaching at The Studio.  So I was up by 5:00 to drink my warm lemon water before I headed out the door at 5:25.  After class I raced back home to change out of my sweaty clothes, eat a little something,

1/2 a Naked Juice and Chili Lime Turkey Potato Patties.  Recipe coming soon!

and get The Love Nugget ready and head back out to pick up donuts for his teachers.  It was his last day of school so I wanted to bring them a little treat.  He also had a special donut since we had some extra time 🙂

After dropping him off I headed to my gym to get in a little more leg work since the morning workout was fairly short.  We spent some time foam rolling before my 6:00 am class since there was just a few people.  It was great but I felt like I needed more.

I came back home to shower and clean up.  Before though I whipped up a yummy post workout snack that is extremely similar to a Fast Food treat.

A frosty!

Funny story.  I haven’t eaten fast food in well over 10 years.  When we started thinking about getting pregnant The Hubby used to joke that I was going to have weird fast food pregnancy cravings.  Then one day when during my pregnancy I surprised him by telling him I was having a Fast Food craving.  For a Frosty!

Haha!  Could be worse right!?!  Back then we headed to Wendy’s and I satisfied my craving with a Junior Frosty.  These days though I’d opt for a healthier option like this knock off Frosty that is seriously as good as the Fast Food version!

WIAW – Healthy Frosty Recipe

WIAW – Healthy Frosty Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup steamed or baked sweet potato
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder (I used About Time Vegan Chocolate)
  • 2 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1-2 pitted dates
  • 1/2 - 1 cup desired milk (amount dependent on how thick you like it)

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients into a blender and mix until creamy.

Before I knew it, I had to rush out to pick up The Love Nugget from his last day of school.  Crazy how fast the year has gone by fun to look back at how much he’s grown 🙂

We had some errands to run before my hair appointment so I ate lunch in the car.

An Epic bar and some un-pictured carrot sticks.  I wasn’t all that hungry from my smoothie so this was perfect.

We got home around 5:00 and I was a little hungry but since it was close to dinner didn’t want to eat too much.  So a Kombucha and veggie sticks did the trick.

Dinner was thrown together but ended up being really good and fun!

Not just salads but we had a make your own salad bar which The Love Nugget really got into.  He ended up eating seconds so I guess it was a hit!

I ended the evening with a few frozen grapes while trying to catch up on some blog work.  Now, time to take on Wednesday!

  1. I’ve been putting sweet potato in all my smoothies lately too! It’ makes them so fantastically creamy. Just the mention of the world Frosty makes me want to crumble saltines in it or get fried to dip. #strangebutgood LOL!

  4. Love epic bars. The bison ones are my favorite. Yes, I do have days where I’m not that hungry.. depending on the workout I did/sleep I got.. I think those are definitely major factors! BTW that frosty/post workout shake.. oh my gosh. Trying soon!

  5. I always forget how delicious sweet potatoes are in smoothies. Probably has to do with the fact that their way too expensive to purchase here in Kuwait.

    Love Nugget is becoming quite the little grown up boy. Not a huge change, but big enough to tell a difference.

  6. That’s so funny, because I just had a frosty from Wendy’s last night, but this looks like a fantastic healthy version. Pinning it to make later! I would have never thought of a sweet potato in a smoothie but that sounds good.
