Good morning friends and happy hump day! Ummm… did you know that the first day of Spring is next week? How is this possible already? I know that many of you are dealing with freezing temperatures and snow still but we’ve barely had any rainfall this year. Which means there’s been no snow in the mountains and will most likely put us in a drought again this year. Not good but it’s hard to complain when we’ve been enjoying sunny, 75 degree weather!
Sorry I’m not sorry 😉
Although I wish I could say we’ve been enjoying it more but unfortunately The Hubby and Love Nugget have been feeling a bit under the weather so have taken to “resting”. The only thing worse than being sick yourself is having a sick family. Especially when one of those family members (cough, cough, hubby), can be a little bit of a grown up baby 😉 Hopefully he’s on the mend and we’ll be able to enjoy the warm weather this weekend!
I’ll get to that smoothie in a minute but first, let’s take a look at some of my other meals from yesterday for What I Ate Wednesday!
I headed to the gym at 5:15 after guzzling a large glass of water and eating one of my Tahini Sunflower Seed Fat Bombs. I didn’t do my seed cycling last month and Aunt Flow is back on vacation. So I’m back to cycling those seeds! If you have no idea what I’m talking about, check out this post that explains it all 🙂
After my workout which consisted of the following;
- Dynamic warm up
- Tabata Plyo push-ups on slam ball and squats
- 5×5 bench press
- WOD –
- 4 Rounds
- 20 ball slams (20lb)
- 20 Alternating lunges with slam ball over head
- 20 ab mat situps increasing by 10 each round
- 400 meter run
- 100 Russian slam ball twists with press
I came home to make breakfast for the The Love Nugget and I.
Green Sweet Cinnamon Scramble with sun butter and strawberries!
It was so good someone gobbled up two bowls of it 🙂 Didn’t even notice the kale!
Then it was off to take him to school and cleaning for me. I took a break around 10:00 and had a little snack,
An un-pictured Sausage, spinach and sweet potato patty with a mandarin.
Before I knew it, I had to rush out to pick up The Love Nugget. Those 3 hours fly by!
For lunch I had the same thing I’ve been enjoying the past few days.
Chicken liver pate mixed with avocado, veggies and olives. Like I said my boys have been sick so I’m hoping to avoid catching their colds by loading up on veggies and nutrient dense liver. It sounds gross but I made this recipe from Balanced Bites and it’s actually pretty good. Don’t knock it till you try it 😉
The Love Nugget surprisingly took a nap (which he’s been on strike against lately) so I was able to finish up some cleaning, put another coat of paint on a desk I’m working on and do laundry. Yay! I took a break for one of these Almond Butter and Jelly Bites from Paleo for Athletes. Yum!
When The Love Nugget woke up, we were in a baking mood so together made this recipe for Banana Bread Bars.
They were pretty good even though I accidentally added 1/2 cup of coconut flour to the mix. I increased the bananas and added egg whites to make up for it and they turned out just fine 🙂 So good that a few might have ended up in my belly as I cut them up 🙂
After our snack we took a walk to the park for some play before returning home so I could get ready to go teach a yoga/stretching class at The Studio. I’m subbing for several classes this week and it’s definitely been different going in the evenings to teach compared to the mornings. I’m enjoying it but I also enjoy my evenings at home.
On the way there I snacked on a few macadamia nuts, jerky, and apple slices.
I wasn’t all that hungry when I got home from teaching so I mixed up one of those mint chip smoothies I mentioned earlier.
- 1 frozen banana
- 3-4 pitted dates
- 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves
- 1 large handful of spinach or other greens
- 1 cup ice
- 1/4 cup chocolate chips (I used Enjoy Life Mini Chips)
- 1 cup coconut milk, cashew milk, or other milk option
- In a blender, add banana, dates, mint, spinach, ice and coconut milk.
- Process until smooth.
- Add in the chocolate chips and blend for until the desired size chips are reached.
