Marvelous last weekend before Christmas!

Marvelous last weekend before Christmas!

I’m a little sad that I’m titling my post this way.  The LAST weekend before Christmas?  Already?  I just love this month so much that I hate to see it go but am excited for what the new year has to offer 🙂

Anyway, we were home this past weekend and enjoyed some family time so I’m joining Katie to share all about it for Marvelous in my Monday!

Friday The Love Nugget and I went over to some friends to paint ornaments.

I’ve never seen him get so into painting before.  He had a blast!

We also picked up our Santa picture from Enchanted Images.

We’ve been getting them done there since his first Christmas and love it every year!

Friday night The Hubby and I enjoyed a date night while The Love Nugget played at his school.  So cool that they offer a monthly date night plus it’s cheap!  We had hoped to go to a movie and dinner but the movie times didn’t work out for us.  So we ran a few errands then went to our favorite restaurant, The Chefs Table.

I tried Cippiono for the first time and was not disappointed.   So good and perfect for a cold rainy evening.  The hubby tried something new as well.  Braised Short Ribs which were really good too!  Never a bad meal there 🙂

Saturday morning I taught my first spin class and had a blast!  Unfortunately only one person showed up (such a slow time of year) but it was still a super fun class.   After that I taught Ninja bootcamp then came home to get a little baking done.  While whipping up a few goodies I listened to my latest addiction lately,

Serial!  I’m so addicted to this!  I started a bit behind so even though it’s already aired it’s season finale I have a few more episodes to go.  I don’t want it to end!

It was a pretty mellow evening lounging around, playing games and watching holiday movies until we heard sirens outside.  At first I was a little worried but then remembered Santa makes his way around the neighborhoods on a firetruck.  Sure enough, he came by!

We also finally got our Christmas lights working just in time for family to come this week.

They’ll look a lot better next year when our front yard is redone 🙂

Saturday evening we relaxed playing dominos and watching It’s a Wonderful Life.  I didn’t make it through the movie though and was passed out by 9:15!

Sunday I woke up at 6:30 nice and rested.  I did this workout in our garage before making breakfast for my boys.

We lounged around in our jammies, getting a little baking, cleaning and wrapping done before heading out for a walk to the park.

A solo trip to Target happened Sunday too and was great.  Except for the bill part but that’s never really all that great…  Gotta love running to Target for just a few things!

Some baking happened after lunch then we headed out to run a few errands before making our way to the Global Winter Wonderland!

Talk about A Christmas light display!  Global Winter Wonderland is a mulit-cultural celebration through lights and festivities.  There were amazing displays from all around the world.  The Great Wall of China, The Golden Gate Bridge, The White house, and so much more!  Plus entertainment, rides, international cuisine and other fun activities.  Unfortunately, my phone died so I didn’t get to snap many pictures.

It sure was a lot of fun!  Although we had to walk over a mile to get into the entrance and it was extremely crowded but The Love Nugget didn’t seem to mind.

Definitely a marvelous weekend spent with the Family!  Now time to get ready for a crazy, but fun week!

  1. What a fun weekend, and how nice that you got to get out on a date while the Love Nugget went to his school. That’s a great idea by them!

Our Christmas activity this weekend was going to watch the Nutcracker. 🙂

It was awesome! They offer it monthly but this was the first time we were able to take advantage of it. We’ll definitely do it again!

  2. Such a cute Santa picture! Love it!
Winter Wonderland looks awesome! We don;t have any festive events around here!

  3. What a fun weekend, Giselle! You three really accomplished a lot. So wonderful that Love Nugget’s school offers a date night for parents. It’s especially lovely this time of the year.

  4. Congrats on your first spin class!! I love that picture of Love Nugget and Santa!

    • Giselle Schroer says:

Thank you Jenny! We are so lucky to get the chance to have such great Santa pictures! And lucky he doesn’t freak out when we plop him on his lap 😉

  5. Wow, those light displays are incredible! So glad you had such a fun and festive weekend with family. 🙂 xo

  6. Awww!! The kiddos are so cute!! Looks like you guys had a blast!! …that Christmas light show??! Wow!! Impressive!! So pretty!

    • Giselle Schroer says:

It was pretty cool but I think would have been better for a little older aged kids. Then they might understand or care to learn about the different cultural displays. My son (3 1/2) could have cared less to see the Great Wall, White House, or Golden Gate Bridge. He thought it was cool but no understanding at all… Still fun though!

  7. I agree, I love Christmas and this month is so fun I really hate to see the holidays go too.

that christmas light display is wonderful!

  8. Wow, what a cool event/celebration. Looks like you had a great weekend- I also can’t believe Christmas is THIS WEEK!

    • Giselle Schroer says:

Two days! Crazy it’s here so soon! Luckily I’m ready but still wish December was a bit longer…

  9. Looks like a fun weekend! I’ve been wanting to go to the global winter wonderland! It looks so cool! We celebrated Christmas with my in-laws this past weekend and are going to look at lights in the Fab Forties in Sacramento tonight after getting some hot cocoa at Ginger Elizabeth!

    • Giselle Schroer says:

It was fun but we probably wouldn’t do it again. Way too many people and Ayden was more into the rides than anything else which we could go do for much cheaper at Funderland… We went to the Fab 40’s earlier this month and it was so cool! Brandon’s boss lives right in the center of it all and was part of the holiday home tour this year. They do such a great job down there!

  10. Great Santa picture!
We went on a drive thru light display this weekend, tons of fun and we’re planning on making it a yearly tradition.
I can’t believe Christmas is just days away!!

    • Giselle Schroer says:

Thank you! We Love going to look at Christmas lights this time of year and there are so many great neighborhoods to go to.

  11. I started listening to Serial this weekend and ended up binging the whole series! I was hooked and loved it 🙂 I have watched a few Netflix shows ‘behind’ and it is so handy to not have to wait a week for the next episode!

    • Giselle Schroer says:

I just finished the last episode this morning at the gym! Ugh! Now what am I going to listen to? So good!
