Kids in the Kitchen #4 – Ants on a Log

Kids in the Kitchen #4 – Ants on a Log

Hey there!

I’m a little behind on these Kids in the Kitchen posts just because we’ve been so busy lately!  That and The Love Nugget has been more interested in playing outside than being in the kitchen.

He’s such an outdoorsy boy!

Today’s Kids in the Kitchen is one that is simple and probably one you’ve made before.  If you haven’t though, it’s a great way to get your kids to eat celery and sneak in some healthy fat from nut butter 🙂

For this as well as any recipe you can begin in the grocery store by asking your little one to help pick out the ingredients.  They can pick out the celery, the raisins or dried fruit and even press their own almond butter at the grocery store.

Then once your home have them help wash the celery while you get the remaining ingredients together.

His chosen toppings were homemade Creamy Cashew Butter, organic raisins, mulberries and unsweetened dried cranberries.

He helped to dry off the celery while I cut it up then it was time to get to creating!

He’s not a fan of celery but once it was smothered with cashew butter then topped with his chosen variety of ants he was loving it!

AND having a blast at the same time!

Like I said, super easy, fun and delicious!

  1. I love that you both cook together in the kitchen. I can’t wait for Ava to be my little helper.

Right now she can’t get enough of meatballs so I use different meats & sneak in veggies!
