Brain Dead for a Fun Reason

Do you ever have those days where you just feel brain dead?  You know where you put the milk in the cupboard or forget why you walked into a room…  Yeah, I’ve been having that type of week and it’s only Tuesday!  At least when it comes to blogging.  Every time I sit down to write a post nothing happens.  It’s not that I don’t have ideas on what to write about.  I actually think about lots of great topics all the time but when I finally have the time to sit and blog those ideas are lost…  I could attribute it to mommy brain, lack of sleep (been up since 3:30 since someone thought they needed to get up and play) or that we’re busy working on the house but I think the main culprit is that all I want to do is plan our trip to… Disneyland!

We are so excited to take The Love Nugget to the happiest place on earth.  I’ve actually never been to Disneyland but I did get to go to Disney World so I guess I’ve had the magical experience 🙂  The Love Nugget is obsessed with Disney Cars and has always loved Mickey so he’s going to have a blast!

The only negative is that we are going in just a few weeks which doesn’t leave a ton time to plan.  On top of that I haven’t done much for his birthday and we still won’t be back in our house.  So needless to say the to-do lists are getting longer and longer but all for fun!

After we spend a few days in Disney we are driving up the coast to Santa Barbara and going “Glamping!”  WHAT!?!?  You know, glamorous camping!

I grew up camping and still love it.  My husband grew up camping in a travel trailer but also loves camping.  We haven’t ventured into camping with a toddler yet and while we want The Love Nugget to experience the same joys of camping we did, we decided this wasn’t the trip.  We are driving to Disney so packing all the camping gear sounded less than appealing.  When i stumbled upon this wonderful resort that had several different options from cabins to canvas tents (pictured above), we decided to try it out.  It wasn’t until after booking it that I found this is the place where the Real Housewives of OC filmed their “Glamping” episode.

Confession… totally used to watch that show.   One of those guilty pleasure things you know?

Anyway, it should be a fun trip and we are very excited for the whole experience.  Even the 7 hour car drive…

Just a few things before I’m off for the day.

  1. Oooh! Your trip sounds awesome! I’ve been dying to take my son to Disneyland (Paris), but he’s only just over a year and a half old. He’s too young for us to try to work it into our budget, but we may go camping for a small vacation this summer. We’d go with a caravan though so it wouldn’t be exactly camping. The Dutch do all sorts of camping vacations with their kiddos, so I also think that ‘glamping’ would be pretty fun to try with a toddler. I did it myself a while ago and loved it! I hope you guys have a fantastic time!

I have brain dead moments all the time lately, so it seems. We’re buying a fixer upper house, and the amount of arrangements for all of the constructions, etc is just insane. It’s really distracting and I completely blame that on my absent-minded-ness, which may or may not have been happening before we bought the house. For example, yesterday, I walked from the living room to the kitchen no less than six times before I remembered what I initially wanted to get – a cup of coffee.

Which sounds awesome right about now…

Haha! I do that all the time with the coffee! Guess that means it’s needed right!?!
We thought about taking our son when he was younger to Disneyland but are so glad we waited. He actually understands that we are going and is so excited! We are hitting the cut off (age 3) for him to be free by just a few weeks so that’s why the rush. Plus we figure next year (hopefully), we’ll have a newborn and won’t be wanting to go for a few more years so it’s now or never for us! Okay not never but much later. Good luck with the fixer upper! I know how much time and energy that takes but it’s worth it!

  2. Glamping is going to be so fun! We are actually heading to check out a possible wedding venue this weekend that has the same types of tents 🙂

  3. Why had I not heard of the term “Glamping” before?! lol It’s my most favorite kind!! 😉

    Have fun in your travels!

  4. Oh yay! This will be such a fun trip for the Love Nugget! Can’t wait to hear about it 🙂

We live in WA state and took our girls (then 3 and 5) to Disneyland. We are planning another trip for next February. It was absolute magic and if we lived closer I’d probably go at least a few times a year. It’s freaking awesome and the age will be so fun. My girls totally believed that those were the real princesses from their movies. I don’t care if they don’t remember it in ten years because I will always remember the joy it brought them.
    Have fun!!!!!!

I can’t wait to see The Love Nugget experience this! So many people have asked us why we are taking him so young but I know some day he’ll look back at pictures and remember some of it 🙂
