WIAW – Crock-pot Apple Pear Sauce

WIAW – Crock-pot Apple Pear Sauce

Good morning!

This week is going by pretty quickly which is nice since that means I’m one day closer to being done with the Whole30!  Even though I truly am enjoying it, I’m really looking forward to having a glass of wine soon 🙂  Other than that I’ll probably stick with most of it as I’m feeling amazing and loving all the clean eating!

Anyway, I’ve been doing recaps of my weekly eats on Sundays when I meal plan so if you’re interested in seeing all that I’ve been enjoying you can go here, here or here.  Otherwise today I’m going to share a yummy Whole30 approved recipe that is the easiest  applesauce I’ve made.

When I say easy I mean, toss them into the crock-pot and 6 hours later your basically done.  Not only is it easy but it has no added sweeteners and just 4 ingredients.  How great is that!?!

Told you!  So easy!  The Hubby has proclaimed this the BEST applesauce he’s ever had and I think The Love Nugget agrees. Every morning he asks for more applesauce!

Luckily we had a huge box of apples we purchased on our trip to Apple Hill and after two batches I’ve still got over half the box left so more of this will be made soon 🙂  It’s great to freeze and if you’ve never canned before applesauce is a great way to start as you don’t have to add any pectin’s or preservatives.  I’d give you my steps for canning but I definitely don’t consider myself a pro but there are tons of videos and tutorials all over the web 🙂

We’ve been enjoying this alongside meal and snacks so I’m linking up with Jenn at Peas and Crayons for What I Ate Wednesday!

  1. Mmmm…I love homemade applesauce! My dad has an apple orchard, so this time of year, we make lots of applesauce. I love the idea of adding in the pears and using the crock pot!

  2. I am so glad you are enjoying and rocking the Whole 30! Such an inspiration. I JUST got a crockpot and have yet to break it in. This looks so yummy and might need to be my first crockpot experiment.

Yes, loving it! I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone but will share more about it next week 🙂 You have to try this recipe in your crock-pot! So good and so easy!

  3. Oh this apple pear sauce sounds really good! I have seen a few homemade apple sauce recipes floating around, I really need to make some. I love how this has the addition of pears. Pears are a funny fruit for me, I either really like them or hate them. I think it depends on the type of pear and ripeness but I haven’t quite been able to pick out the good ones before biting into them yet.

    • Giselle Schroer says:

Yesterday I saw so many apple recipes and meals! Apple season is definitely in full effect! I’m kind of the same way with pears. I like them added to things but rarely eat them by themselves.

  4. This looks so easy and yummy! Sharing now!

  5. I have made homemade applesauce in the crockpot before and LOVED it..your idea to add in different fruits has sparked lots of ideas in my brain! 😉

    • Giselle Schroer says:

I bet there’s a ton of combinations you could do! Anything with apples and cinnamon works for me!

  6. I’ve never made homemade applesauce, but I’ve meaning to because it looks SO easy and yummy! I wish we had one of those apple peeler/corer/slicer things though. I have a feeling that would make it so much easier. I bet Hunter would love this too!

    • Giselle Schroer says:

They are so helpful and I’ve seen them everywhere lately. It literally takes so much time off of the process and we actually love the thinly sliced apple rings to snack on more than slices.

  7. Oh wow this sounds SO good and so perfect for fall!!!

  8. Homemade applesauce is one of my favs!

  9. This looks so yummy! Boy do I wish I had one of those peelers!

    • Giselle Schroer says:

They are so helpful! I’ve seen them everywhere lately. Mine was my grandmothers so it’s ancient but it does the trick!

  10. I’ve never made my own applesauce, but I’ve been meaning to. A pear/apple combo sounds perfect!

  11. Your applesauce looks so yummy! I’ve been wanting to make some for this year, but we have yet to get a lot of apples! I’m hoping we can make another trip up to Apple Hill during the week sometime soon!

    • Giselle Schroer says:

Such a bummer it was so busy when you guys went. Hopefully you get a chance to go again soon!

  12. That’s the first time I’ve seen an apple peeler like that, and ohhhh boy could I ever use one in my life. I whip up a batch of applesauce a few times a week, but I make mine on the stove. I’ve been hearing such great things about making it in the crockpot, though, so I really think I need to invest in one!

    • Giselle Schroer says:

Really!?! You need to get one! They are amazing! The one I have is ancient but you can find them anywhere these days. Great for making apple chips too!

  13. Yes!!! Must try!!

  14. I really need to go apple picking before it’s too late! I see applesauce in my future.
