Toddler Tuesday – Grandparent’s Day Craft

Toddler Tuesday – Grandparent’s Day Craft

Did you know that this Sunday is Grandparent’s Day?

I was blessed with some very special Grandparents and am now seeing how special our parents are as Grandparent’s to The Love Nugget. He LOVES spending time with them all while we don’t get to see them as often as we’d like, it’s so special to watch them being the amazing Grandparents that they are.

So of course to honor them for this special holiday we wanted to make them a little something 🙂

I was in a Fall mood yesterday since it was the first weekend of September and we had some cooler weather with thunderstorms.  So as I tried to think of something to make them I remembered a fun Fall activity we did last year that I thought would be perfect for a cute little card.

Last years wine cork fall tree

So I got out all the supplies and we got to work on some Grandparent’s Day cards!

First, I painted The Love Nugget’s hand brown and he printed it onto four separate cards.  I didn’t snap pictures of him doing his hand stamps because it’s a very directed activity.  Meaning I hold his hand and press it onto the paper then don’t let go until all four are done. It’s just easier and cleaner that way.

After the hands were all done, I painted a trunk with a paint brush.  If you want you could also use their forearm for the tree trunk but he was pretty wiggly today so we skipped painting his arm this time.

Next came the fun part!  I gave him four different Fall colors along with four wine corks to stamp “leaves” on the tree branches,

He was very particular about stamping one of each color onto the tips of each fingerprint before stamping anywhere else.

Once his trees were done, I glued another paper on the front of the cards, wrote a message then signed it from him.

A simple, but cute card I think they’ll all enjoy!

  1. LOVE this idea and the card saying! Thanks for sharing! We will definitely be doing a combination of your two projects to give Sunday!

  2. Just found your blog, Giselle, and judging by this post, I can’t wait to go back and read some more! Your little one is so adorable! I love this project….it might just be a little out of our Hunter’s age range though right now (he just turned 9 months). How old is your little one? ….btw…I had NO IDEA it was grandparent’s day this coming Sunday! I’m glad I found out early enough though to plan something! Thank you! — Julie

So glad you found me! My son is 27 months but we did this same craft last year when he was just over a year. You can just make it a more directed activity for him and be sure to keep a packet of hand wipes near by 🙂

  3. Aww, so cute! I love the saying, too. We’re a little behind over here, so we may be adding this to our to-do list!
