Munchkin Meals 26 months

Good morning!
Can you believe it’s August 1st already! Holy cow where has summer gone!?! We wanted to do so many things with The Love Nugget this summer and so far haven’t done many of them. I had hoped to take him camping, to San Francisco, hiking, to the lake, and several other fun places. However, we have been so wrapped up in house shopping that we haven’t really been able to do much of those things. I feel horrible about it now that I realize time is flying by so fast but at the same time, we do need to find a new house. Hopefully soon!

Yesterday we did go do something fun that The Love Nugget has not done before. I took him to his first movie!

We met some friends from Stroller Strides to see Rio an oh my he was so excited! He was a little scared walking in since it was already kind of dark and he had issues with his chair but once the animations came on he was in awe! He ended up sitting on my lap through the whole movie which worked for me since he never really cuddles at home 🙂 I wasn’t sure we would make it through the whole hour and a half as he’s never even watched a movie at home but his eyes were glued pretty much the entire time. So cute!

With the beginning of the month also comes Munchkin Meals, a fun link-up that I look forward to joining in with. Brittany who blogs over at A Healthy Slice of life started it as a way for moms to share meals, snacks, recipes, etc. that their little ones are enjoying at the time. It’s great to see what other kids are eating and to get new ideas for things to try with The Love Nugget.

Here’s a look at The Love Nugget’s meals for a day.

Breakfast is served pretty much right when he wakes up around 7:30. This particular day breakfast was scrambled eggs with kale, ham, avocado, goat cheese and cherry tomatoes along with some fruit and a sweet potato pancake.

He ended up eating most the eggs, and all the fruit plus seconds as well as a cup of milk.  He wasn’t feeling the pancake today but I was just happy he ate his eggs and kale 🙂

He typically has a snack between 10:00 and 11:00 depending on where we are or what we are doing.  On the go snacks are typically apple slices, mixed raw nuts and dried fruit, granola bars or bites, turkey jerky, and sometimes pouches.

I love Little Green Pouches that are reusable and can be filled with whatever you’d like!  His favorite lately is plain yogurt, apple sauce and chia seeds 🙂

Lunches are usually eaten after nap around 1:30 – 2:00.  Sometimes later like today as I’m typing at 2:45 he’s just now eating.  Oh well! Lunch on this day was some leftovers from our dinner the night before.

Roasted chicken, Cauliflower mashed potatoes and avocado.

He usually has an afternoon snack depending on how late he eats lunch or if he’s going to eat dinner with us or before.  We usually eat together around 6:30 but sometimes if I don’t have dinner done yet he’ll eat before around 6:00.  This was one of those nights where dinner wasn’t done so he ate earlier.  Luckily I had picked up a few of Red’s All Natural burritos’ on our grocery shopping trip the other day to pop in the microwave on nights like this one.

I don’t buy a ton of pre-made meals but Red’s is a little different since they are all natural, antibiotic and hormone free, use rGBH free cheese, Non-GMO and contain no preservatives.  So I feel much better about feeding them to my family 🙂  They offer a large variety of burritos and quesadillas.  Besides the basic, turkey, chicken, steak and bean burritos, they also have a Teriyake, Chicken Parmesan, and BBQ burrito.  Their quesadillas include a Pulled Pork, Buffalo chicken, Steak, and Bean and Cheese.

The Love Nugget was served a Chicken Parmesan Burrito on this particular day and LOVED it!

He gobbled up the whole thing.  I love that it has rice, peppers and chicken included so it’ a little more of balanced meal rather than just beans and cheese.

After dinner he usually heads straight off to shower, brush his teeth, read a story with dad then time for bed!  Ahhh… the life of a two year old sounds so appealing.  To bed early, sleep in, eat yummy food throughout the day and lots of play!  Must be the life right!?!

  • Would you rather live the life of a two year old or 10 year old?
  • What foods does your little one love these days?
  • Do you have any pre-made freezer meals you like to have on hand for quick meals?

  6. For breakfast one of my go-to freezer meals is cooked brown rice mixed with cinnamon, almond milk, and pureed peaches and butternut squash. I just package them up and place in individual portions for Edith and warm them for her when needed.
