Saturday morning walk with the family after a super sweaty gym session.  I’m still trying to learn to love to just walk and it’s so much better when I have the Hubby to talk to since he actually talks back in complete sentences!

We also got in some morning play before things heated up.

Gosh he looks like such a big boy in this picture!

Marvelous –

A nice outdoor breakfast we enjoyed yesterday morning.

Chicken sausage with sauteed Kale and a fried egg with fresh fruit.  Man I’m loving the fresh summertime fruit right now!  Anyone else?

Marvelous –

Speaking of fresh fruit, I’ve been overdosing on berries lately.

Especially when served over Sigi’s Grassfed yogurt and topped with the super delicious and local Wingnuts!

I was at the farmers market a few weeks ago and came across a booth with a wonderful woman sampling some of her gourmet trail mix.  We tasted it and loved it!  We got to talking and she offered me a bag to take home, sample and review.  Since then we’ve been enjoying them by the handful, sprinkled on salads, fresh fruit or my personal favorite, on smoothie bowls or scattered over sweet potato pancakes.

Anyway you eat them, their delicious!

The ingredient list is pretty good too.  Made with pumpkin seeds, pure maple syrup, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, pecans, almonds and sea salt.  No added oils, no preservatives and gluten-free!

I also love that they are local.  Supporting local companies is so important and this is  a yummy one to support!  Generous to as she offered to send a reader a bag of their own to try out!  Make sure to enter in the Rafflecopter at the bottom of this post 🙂

Marvelous –

The two new cocktails I mixed up this weekend.

A blueberry whiskey crush and a nectarine and white peach sangria/spritzer.  Yum!

Paleo Avocado Hummus

Paleo Avocado Hummus

  • 1 large zucchini
  • 1 small avocado
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 2 tbsp. tahini
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro
  • 2-3 tbsp. avocado oil (olive oil works well too)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • Squeeze of lime juice (optional)

  1. Place all ingredients except oil into a food processor.
  2. Pulse until finely chopped.
  3. Continue pulsing and slowly add in oil until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  4. Serve with fresh veggies or desired dippers!

Ummm you guys this stuff is amazing!  I had seen a few Paleo Hummus recipes with zucchini and thought it sounded a little strange.  However, there is nothing strange about this!  It’s so creamy and does not taste like zucchini at all.  I actually think it tastes better than hummus!

Marvelous –

Watching these two play together all afternoon and into the evening yesterday.

Even though his little buddy was a few years older and The Love nugget kept stripping down to his birthday suit, they still had so much fun!

Marvelous –

Was waking up and getting in my 10 yoga Sun Salutations this morning!  In case you missed yesterday’s post, that’s one of my weekly goals that I’m focusing on this week.

Not so marvelous –

An empty crib when someone is supposed to be sleeping in it.

The Love Nugget learned how to climb out.  We were hoping to make it a little longer but I guess 26 months is what we get.  We’ll be switching him to a big boy bed this week.  I think the least marvelous thing is that this is the last “baby” milestone he really has left to cross.

We took his pacifier (that he used at night) away about a month ago.  He’s been potty trained since before he turned two and now climbs up on the toilet, goes potty, gets down and washes his hands by himself (I help him if it’s number two).  So the crib was really the last thing connected to him being my little baby.  This past weekend when he went down for his nap he kept climbing out but was very tired.  I ended up climbing into his crib with him to cuddle and rub his back until he fell asleep.  I’ll be honest, a few tears were shed as I thought about what a big boy he is turning into and I’ll never get to experience all these little milestones with him again.  Sad but I guess in a way it is marvelous as it is a wonderful thing to see your child growing up 🙂

Okay enough of sappy mom stuff.  Last marvelous thing for today is the Wing Nut giveaway.  Make sure to enter in one or all of the ways possible!

  1. Uh-oh, he’s on the move! haha What a cutie. I’m loving summer fruit too. Can’t.Get.Enough.

  2. I love finding new products at local farmers markets! Great find 🙂

  3. My daughter is 29 months old and has not attempted to get out…. yet! I do feel like we should try to transition sometime soon though. I must admit I’m a little nervous for it though!! Now, potty training on the other hand is a different story 🙂

    • Giselle Schroer says:

Lucky! I wanted to hang on to the crib for as long as possible! Good luck with potty training!

  4. That hummus sounds awesome!!

  5. Happy Monday!!

I just adore you and your beautiful family! So sweet! Those drinks look SO refreshing and delicious!

And I have a question, what monitor do you have?

    xoxo <3

    • Giselle Schroer says:

Thank you Katie! You are so sweet and your family is adorable as well!
so sorry! I completely forgot you asked me that on Instagram. We have the summertime infant monitor and love it! It looks like they’ve upgraded all their monitors and they are much more advanced! I highly recommend getting a video monitor especially if you have a two story house. It has saved us numerous trips upstairs when he was sleep training and it is such a peace of mind to be able to check frequently to see them sleeping 🙂 Oh and we run ours every night, all night, as well as during nap times and it’s still kicking! It’s great for traveling too!

  6. I love the looks of those drinks!I made something similar this weekend with strawberries and I’m so obsessed. I also love replacing ice cubes in my cocktails and using frozen berries. So amazing.
And I need that hummus – it would be so good on almost anything I bet.

    • Giselle Schroer says:

I love using frozen berries for ice cubes! I also love pureeing berries, freezing in cute ice cube shapes and adding them to champagne for a fun spin on mimosas. Speaking of… maybe I’ll do that this weekend!
The hummus is amazing and I think you would definitely love it!

  7. Wingnuts looks like a product I would love! I made some variety of hummus every week for snacking. I’m def trying your recipe. Zucchini? Really? Never would have thought of that 🙂

  8. Aww, I totally understand the feeling of letting go of those baby moments. I was a mess when I stopped breastfeeding. The good news is, there are so many more moments to look forward to! 🙂

I’m really scared of the inevitable crib-climbing day! Our son’s room is on a different floor than ours, so we’re thinking we’ll have to gate his doorway when that day comes. Still makes me nervous thinking of him roaming around at night…keep us updated on the big boy bed transition process! Good luck!

    • Giselle Schroer says:

We kept waiting for it to happen and of course, it did 🙁 We were hoping he would wait until we were in a new house since his bedroom is right above our living room and putting up a gate at night with the door open won’t work. I have no doubt once he’s in a big boy bed he will be getting up a lot! At least for a few nights. We’ll see soon as we’re planning to transition any day now.

  9. So I’m a little scared of this recipe, and a little intrigued. I think I’m going to have to try it and decide.

    • Giselle Schroer says:

No! Don’t be scared I promise it’s really good! No one at our little dinner party even knew it was zucchini. They all thought it was avocado hummus!

  10. I hopped straight up and made the avocado hummus! Delicious!

  11. NEED to try that avocado hummus. I am obsessed.

  12. I’ve been seriously overdosing on berries lately also, and I am completely okay with it. The hummus looks wonderful, I love the idea of zucchini and avo together!

    • Giselle Schroer says:

It’s so good! I was amazed at how creamy it was. We are supposed to go pick berries this weekend to make jam but it’s going to be hot again! Ugh, so over this heat wave we’ve been having!

  13. Aww, this made me tear up. Our little guy has always been in a bed–it’s not so bad. He still looks like my little baby when he sleeps, crib or no crib. I recommend going straight to a twin–you’ll be able to lay down with him more easily if you ever need to, and he’ll outgrow a toddler bed quicker than you think!

    • Giselle Schroer says:

We were just talking about that. We are actually planning to buy a new mattress for us when we move and put ours in the guest room so he would get that old one. We’ll probably just set him up with a big bed in a big boy room when we move. Hopefully sooner than later!

  14. Ayden is growing up so fast! I remember when Keenan learned how to climb out of his bed at 2 1/2 years! Now that he is in a big boy bed, he sleeps so much better and he always wants to sit or cuddle on his bed with all of his critters. I definitely shed a few tears, too, especially now that he is fully potty trained, but it is fun to see him become such an independent little boy!

    • Giselle Schroer says:

I know! Sad but exciting in a way. It’s fun to see him maturing but sad I’m losing my baby 🙁
