Toddler Tuesday Love Nugget’s Birthday Part 1

Toddler Tuesday Love Nugget’s Birthday Part 1

Yesterday was not the best Memorial Day I’ve had.  Sick with the stomach flu, I spent most my day on the couch.  Luckily the vomiting had subsided during the night but I felt like I got hit by a semi truck all day yesterday.  Feeling a little better today but nowhere near back to normal.  Luckily The Hubby was home yesterday and was able to take care of The Love Nugget.  Unfortunately, he came down with it last night and is home sick today 🙁  Crossing our fingers The Love Nugget doesn’t get it!

Anyway, as most of you know The Love Nugget celebrated his second birthday last week so of coarse we had to throw him a party!  I’ve got lots of pictures and details to share with you.  So much so that I’m going to have to break it into a few posts!  Today for Toddler Tuesday, I’m going to share all the details of his super fun, farm themed birthday party!

The invites were ordered from this Etsy shop.  I love ordering my paper party supplies from Etsy since you typically get a PDF file that you can either print at home or order through a photo print shop like Costco.   So easy!

The only problem was some how the RSVP information got left off so I wasn’t quite sure exactly how many people were coming.  I think we ended up with about 30 adults and 14 kids which was a great turn out for a holiday weekend!

I chose to do a farm theme because The Love Nugget LOVES tractors.  Plus the farm theme was so cute and let’s face it, I’m sure I won’t get to do too many more “cute” themed parties after this year.  I see visions of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Spiderman, Superman etc. in our future…  Yay!

Okay, the details….  I love throwing parties and adding in special details in one of my favorite parts.   Luckily this year I had some help from my mom and mother-in-law at preparing a few special details for our farm.  Like this mural that my mom painted to go behind the food table.

So cute!  She even added in a little picture of The Love Nugget in the barn window.

She’s so awesome!  She also made these fruits and vegetable bean bags for our Produce Toss.

Seriously so talented!  Speaking of talent, check out these adorable stick horses my mother-in-law made.

So cute I could barely contain myself!  Wait until you see pictures of the kids riding them, too funny!

A few months ago The Hubby and I took The Love Nugget to a nearby park with horses and pastures to do a little photo shoot.  The pictures turned out great so I framed a few and placed them around the party along with some farm themed quotes.  Most the frames I bought at the Dollar store and spray painted black and then just dressed up some of the pictures with scrapbook paper and stickers.

I bought the chalkboard pig on clearance at Hobby Lobby but you can find a similar one here.   The little hay bales and the number two were from Michael’s and I bought some cow print fabric and checkered fabric that I used around the party.

Ay9I decorated the tables with just a plain white plastic tablecloth, a bandanna, baskets (from The Goodwill) with kettle-corn, mason jars with burlap, checkered fabric and sunflowers.  Simple but cute!

I made a basic farm themed wreath for the back door since guests were coming in through the side gate and pretty much staying out back.

The cow and the sheep were pre-painted from Hobby Lobby and the A was just a wooden letter that I covered with scrapbook paper.  Simple but cute!

The beverage station (which is always a hit) was a fun one to throw together.

I made a banner using farm themed scrapbook paper I purchased on Etsy.  Again, a PDF file so I could print off what I needed.  I have a few boxes of mason jars I keep on hand for parties as I think they are so much nicer to drink out of than the plastic cups.  I tied some raffia around them and stuck paper straws that I ordered from here.  I made flags on Pic Monkey then hole punched them and stuck them through the straw for a cute added touch.

We used a wheel barrel with the cow print fabric as our “ice chest” filled with beer, juice and water.   Sort of went with the theme 🙂

Along with the pony rides and produce toss, I set up a few more things for the kids to do.

Pigs, Horse, and Cow craft plates that I found at Joann’s fabric and were pretty easy to do and some farm animal lacing boards.  We also rented a few hay bales and set them around with bandannas on top for extra seating.

Ay14A “duck pond”  which was just the water table filled with rubber ducks.

And my super talented mom painted faces as well.

For the party favors I picked up some farm themed books from Johann’s fabric store then The Love Nugget and I made these animal graham crackers.

I put them all in a basket next to a thank you sign on the way out so guests could grab them as they left.

I had so much fun planning this party and actually think it was much easier than last year’s little man party which you can read about here and here.

I’ve got lots more pictures and details to share with you but you’ll have to wait for another day 🙂
