Challenge Check in and PRO Compression Socks

Challenge Check in and PRO Compression Socks

Happy Friday!

Congrats to those of you who made it through your first week of the Summer Ready Challenge!

One week down and two more to go!  Not to bad right!?!  Did you get in any other exercise this week on top of the challenge?

I know I didn’t mention much about weekend workouts but my thought was to leave it up to you.  Saturday and Sunday are included on the spreadsheet and I encourage you to continue with your challenge exercises throughout the weekend.  However, if you’re muscles are fatigued, your tired, worn down or like you need a rest, do so!   Maybe take a nice long nap instead or try a yoga class in place of the challenge exercises.  Totally up to you!

Here’s the spreadsheet for you again in case you haven’t had a chance to update your progress yet 🙂

I’m fairly happy with how my week of exercise went.  Like I mentioned the other week,  I’m trying to scale back on my workouts a little incorporating a few low intensity training days which my body seems to be appreciating more 🙂

Saturday – Boot Camp class at 24hr.

Sunday – Rest

Monday – This treadmill workout for a total of 4 miles + this Tabata workout and challenge exercises before bed

work your booty!

Tuesday – Run to the gym, Boot Camp class, walk home and challenge exercises

Wednesday – Spin class + this workout two times through that included my challenge exercises for the day

extrapush

Thursday – 40 Minute Elliptical and challenge exercises

Friday – This Crossfit style WOD I threw together this morning and maybe a return trip for yoga 🙂

run work repeat

As I mentioned, I’ll be giving away a few awesome prizes at the end of the 3 week challenge and today I wanted to share a little about one of those prizes.

I had heard a lot of great things about Pro Compression socks and was itching to try them.  So when the opportunity to sample some came up I jumped for joy!

Now, when  people hear compression socks they often think of old ladies wearing their nylon compression Pany Ho’s.  Yes, those are compression as well but compression socks are so much more and do so many wonderful things for you.

PRO Compression socks are created using a unique design to provide maximum comfort and speedy recovery times.  Some of the benefits include improved blood flow, stability and comfort. Mainly used by endurance athletes to aid in recovery, they are quickly gaining ground as an overall comfortable sock that can be worn before, during or after activity.

I’ve suffered from leg swelling in association with running and without.  I actually just mentioned the other day how I experience it more often during the hotter months especially after indulging in a few alcoholic beverages.  It just so happened that these socks arrived the day after a night with a few too many glasses of wine.  I was feeling puffy and my ankles had definitely taken on a cankle appearance.  So I tore open the package, put them on and kicked back.  I immediately felt the blood flowing through my legs and a sort of cool, soothing feeling.  I left them on for about 40-45 minutes and noticed a huge difference when i took them off.  No more cankles!

Along with the tall compression socks, PRO Compression carries ankle socks, calf sleeves and socks specifically for golfers, marathoners or triathletes.

Like I said if you’re participating in the Summer Ready Challenge you’ll have a chance to win a pair of your own at the end of the three weeks!  One week down, two more to go!

Oh, I almost forgot!  I’m running my first mud run tomorrow!

Actually, The Hubby and I are doing it together so I’m excited to have him by my side.  It sort of snuck up on my and I feel like I’m completely unprepared.  I don’t even know what I’m going to wear let alone what any of the obstacles are!  It’s been on my fitness bucket list for awhile now and I finally talked The hubby into doing it.  He reluctantly agreed only because his boss and wife are running it as well.   Hopefully it will be fun!

QUESTIONS –

  • How are you doing with the challenge exercises?
  • Did you try the extra push?
  • Have you tried compression socks before?
  • Have you done a mud run before?  Any tips?

  1. So far I feel like the extra 100 sit-ups per day have REALLY helped me and I am planning on trying the Extra Push tonight 🙂

I just tried my first pair of PRO Compression socks last night on my 2 mile treadmill run and I LOVE them. I really don’t know why it took me so long to try them out!

And good luck on the mud run…I’ve never run in one, but I’ve always wanted to 🙂

Awesome job Beth! I’m actually feeling a little soreness in my abs this week as well. Hope you enjoyed the extra push workout!

  2. That is one awesome workout circuit!!! WOW!!! And compression socks ROCK! They changed my running world…and recovery time! I’d be lost without them now!

  3. The challenge is going well for me. I am feeling it! I have actually had to start doing all my push-ups on my knee, whereas I started out the beginning of the week able to do 12 or 13 regular ones, but I am guessing this is normal?

I just noticed your extra push challenge, so I am going to give it a try tomorrow. 🙂

Awesome job Bri! Keep it up! If you’re feeling fatigued or your form is slipping, definitely do your push-ups on your knees. Before you know it you’ll be doing full push-ups!

  4. I have been loving the challenge, so far! I am really proud of myself for completing all of the days to date. I am making sure to get in some yoga, strength training, and walking, too! 🙂
