Okay I know it’s toddler Tuesday and this isn’t really toddler related but it is baby related so that works right? I wanted to share all the details about the shower I threw this past weekend and couldn’t wait another day. So baby/toddler Tuesday it is!
If you missed yesterdays post, Saturday I threw a baby shower for my best friend. We grew up together and even though we live miles away are still really close and I was thrilled to be able to celebrate such a wonderful time in her life with her. We grew up in Northern California and our families still live there. However, she lives in Seattle and I live in Sacramento so we decided to do it in Anderson at my moms house. Luckily she has the most amazing yard with lots of beautiful plants and vegetation.
These photos don’t even do her yard justice! Plus, she has the most amazing view of Mt. Shasta and the surrounding foothills. I wish I would have appreciated it more growing up but I love to go back and visit 🙂 Now, let’s talk details. She is having a little girl and her colors are mainly pinks and greys which was perfect since they are very popular right now!
I ordered the PDF file from this Etsy shop as well as a few other files :-). For decorations I went with lots of pink and grey of course 🙂
Mason jars with pink and grey ribbons, grey paper straws and pink flags I printed using Picmonkey.
A cute printable I found here for free 🙂 Gotta love free stuff when throwing a party!
On the invite I asked everyone to bring a book for the babies first library so I found cute little elephant book labels here for everyone to fill out and stick on their books. I ordered a PDF file of these cute wishes for baby card and advice for mommy card then purchased some pink boxes, created a printable on PicMonkey and had them for people to fill out as they mingled.
After she finished opening up her gifts she read them all off and it was fun to hear what everyone had to say. For games I wanted to keep it simple without having to stop and give directions. So I chose a very easy frozen baby game, a guess the blocks game (mommy keeps the blocks) and set up a onesie decorating station. Mommy to be chose her favorite onesie as the prize winner!
Prizes for the winners were a simple but fun package with a Bath and Body candle as well as hand sanitizer.
Food was kept fairly simple as well,
An Italian Chicken Salad, Cucumbers and Hummus, Caprese Kabobs, Mini Quiches, unpictured fruit salad, croissants, strawberry water and pink lemonade. Since the mommy to be eats mostly gluten-free, I made some gluten-free Champagne Cupcakes as the main sweet treat.
I also set up a craving station with some of the mommy to be’s food cravings throughout her pregnancy.
Cuties, orange juice, old fashioned donuts, apples with peanut butter, sugar cookies and Udi’s Gluten-free snickerdoodle cookies. I think I ate that entire bowl of Cuties since I was still doing my Sugar detox and wasn’t able to enjoy any of the sweets I made. Well…. I did try an Udi’s cookie since I will be reviewing them soon and needed to try them first hand 😉 I’m glad I did because they were gone right away and were delicious! After trying to think of a fun favor that people would actually use and enjoy I came back to the same one I used last year for my sister-in-laws bridal shower since it was such a hit,
I also made a pink and grey banner that said “congratulations” but the pictures did not turn out. Neither did the ones of the adorable tissue paper balls her mom made that we strung around the porch as well 🙁 We got so lucky with the weather as it had been pouring the night before and I was worried we would be rained out. Instead we were blessed with mild temperatures and scattered sunshine!
Oh and this little guy was quite the partyer! Running around being a ham even stripping down in front of everyone during gift time preparing to go potty! Yikes! The joys of boys! He had a blast though as did everyone else!
