Marvelous Birthday Surprise!

by Giselle Schroer on February 11, 2013

You guys!  Wednesday is my birthday and I thought it was a little crazy to set a goal of reaching 200 Facebook likes by then but… we did it!  Happy birthday to me!  Thank you to everyone joined in!  I greatly appreciate your support and love!

Speaking of my birthday… even though it’s not until Wednesday we did a little celebrating this past weekend.  Which was pretty marvelous so I’ll be joining up with the Marvelous Katie at Healthy Diva Life for Marvelous in My Monday!

The hubby really wanted to surprise me with a few things he had planned.  Not that I don’t like surprises, I do, but I also like planning and knowing if I need to clean our house, get the guest bedroom ready, etc.  He REALLY didn’t want to tell me so I tried my hardest to go with the flow and prepare as if we were having guests.  I pretty much figured his mom would be coming down to watch Ayden since he said we had plans Friday and Saturday and my mom can’t keep a secret to save her life.  So when Friday came around I wasn’t all to surprised to see his mom and sister show up but was definitely happy to see them!  While we didn’t get to visit long, it’s always good to see them and The Love Nugget really enjoys getting to spend time with them both.

The hubby told me he had made reservations for dinner at Ruth’s Chris Steak House which we had been wanting to try.  It was nice getting to get all dressed up and go out just the two of us.  It’s been awhile!

The hubby had to run into a job site real fast so I was killing some time in the car :-)

Like I said, neither of us had been to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse before but had heard good things.  We both started off with cocktails, Mint Julep for The Hubby, Dirty Goose (Grey Goose Dirty Martini with Blue Cheese stuffed olives) for me!  Haven’t had one of those in so long!  I ordered a Chilean Sea Bass topped with fresh crab and The Hubby got a filet, of coarse :-)

It’s a horrible picture but the dish was delicious!  Since it was my birthday they brought me a chocolate molten lava cake that was quite delicious as well :-)

And totally not gluten-free :-)

While at dinner The Hubby gave me my birthday card which held two tickets to a local wine and chocolate festival the next day.  I pretty much knew we were going but was very surprised to see who showed up at our front door to come along with us the next day.

Some very good friends who I hadn’t seen in way too long!  So fun to catch up with them and spend my birthday celebration enjoying wine and great friends!

The day was filled with lots of yummy wine, some chocolate and other treats.  We ended the evening by ordering pizzas, salads and playing some games.  It was such a fun day and I am so thankful for my wonderful Hubby who organized a great birthday celebration.

Unfortunately, I woke up yesterday morning with a pretty bad sore throat and was hit full force with a cold.  The Love Nugget decided he didn’t want to be sick all alone I guess so he spread his germs with me! So our day consisted of lounging, meal planning, grocery shopping and a low key evening.  Hoping we’re both better by tomorrow since we have a Valentine’s celebration planned with friends.  Loading up on Vitamin C and getting some rest today while thinking positive thoughts :-)

Hope you all have a Marvelous Monday!

I’ve never been to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, but I hear it’s delicious! What a great weekend. I went to a wine tasting on Saturday night with my husband, and it was so nice to get out and go for a date. :) Hope you’re feeling better!

Ok, I have so many things to say… :)

–Happy birthday!! Congrats on the likes! What a great feeling to set a super high goal and then actually reach it. Go you!
–I LOOOOOVE Ruth’s Chris! Their steak melts in your mouth. I go crazy for it. Of course, it’s also super pricey, so we’ve only been there twice, and only then because we had gift cards. Their sweet potato side dish is to die for, too! (And it’s pretty naughty, of course, haha!)
–Ummmmm I want to go to a wine and chocolate festival! I had no idea such a thing existed (and it was outdoors too??)–sounds incredible! Kuddos to hubby for thinking of something so perfect! (Any new wines you’d recommend?)
–I love your green/white top! So cute.
–Sorry you’re sick…hope you feel better ASAP!

Ok, I think that’s it for now. :) Have a great week!

You’re so sweet! Thank you! I totally did not think I would make it to 200 but it feels great!

Yes, Ruth’s Chris was pretty pricey! I bet they have a good happy hour though. I like to do happy hours at more expensive restaurants since you can usually enjoy a few yummy dishes and drinks for much cheaper than their dinners. Although, happy hours don’t happen all too often around here now that we have The Love Nugget.

Wine and chocolate festivals are the best! We actually have a few wine events around here that are similar to the one we went to this past weekend. You pay for your ticket, get a glass, then drive around to the different wineries tasting wine and eating goodies. It’s a lot of fun!

Thank you! Here’s the store that I got my top at. I shop there WAY to often! http://www.francescas.com/home.do

Hope you have a great week as well! My plan is to be all better by Wednesday ;-) We’ll see how that goes!

Your husband did a fabulous job on planning your birthday. Such a sweet guy.

I feel like we both keep saying the same thing back and fourth to each other ” i hope you start feeling better soon”, Ha Ha.. but it’s true, I really do girl.
